Leanne's question was tactful, but the implication couldn't have been clearer.
Millie just smiled, saying nothing, her expression full of unspoken meaning.
Leanne was almost certain her guess was right.
But Millie switched topics without missing a beat. "Aren't you out raising investments lately? Why are you working with Ninesky?"
Leanne's face went cold. "Vivian's chasing the same investors. So now we're in competition?"
"That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about," Millie replied. "Neither Vivian nor I have met the big boss behind that funding. Whoever they are, they're as elusive as a ghost—here one moment, gone the next."
Millie's face betrayed nothing as she listened, but she nodded slightly. "I get it. I'll figure something out."
Leanne knew her daughter was talented—and well-versed in business, too.
"You'd better get inside. Don't keep Alex and the others waiting. Call me later, okay?"

The next morning.
Ninesky Technologies.
Gian made his way to Kirsten's office, a folder tucked under his arm. He wanted to discuss renewing their collaboration agreement.
Ninesky had a partnership with The Davidson Group. Some of their internal systems relied on Davidson's exclusive patents, and the contract was up for renewal. It was time to head over and talk terms.
Business was business—personal matters didn't get in the way. Only a fool would turn down profit, especially when The Davidson Group's patents were in a league of their own.
Kirsten frowned slightly. "Shouldn't we tell Dani? She's bound to be upset if she finds out. God, I could strangle that jerk right now!"
"Work is work. Personal feelings shouldn't interfere," Gian said. "We have to talk to them if we want to keep the systems running."
Just then, Danielle strode in. "The Davidson Group is a major player in this sector. We're going to cross paths sooner or later, whether we like it or not. I'm not going to avoid them just because of my history with Alexander."
Channing, the assistant, came downstairs and paused when he caught sight of Danielle. There was a flash of disdain in his eyes.
He remembered how self-righteous Danielle had been when she quit—just another forgettable assistant, only ever focused on Mr. Davidson. Everyone in the company knew she was desperate to become Mrs. Davidson. But once Millie, Alexander's girlfriend, returned, Danielle had resigned in embarrassment. And now she had the gall to show up again.
Channing turned to Gian. "Mr. Atwood, please follow me upstairs."
Danielle followed at a measured pace.
Gian entered the conference room first.
Channing glanced back as Danielle walked in behind him, a sneer tugging at the corner of his mouth.
So, she'd found herself a new backer? Looked like she was aiming for Mrs. Atwood now. Some people really couldn't stick to one tree.
As far as Channing was concerned, Danielle was just another opportunist—always looking for a shortcut, always trying to climb up by latching onto powerful men.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
