Danielle was well aware of her place in the family. Showing up at a time like this was bound to spark whispers.
But this was her grandmother’s birthday.
There was no way she’d stay away.
“Now, what on earth is this complicated mess? The ex-wife is now the sister-in-law?”
“So that’s why they got divorced? There was something else going on?”
The guests murmured among themselves. They kept their voices low, but Danielle and the man beside her could hear every word.
She glanced at Nathan, catching his expression. He wore the same gentle smile as always, as if he hadn’t heard a thing.
Danielle felt an urge to put some distance between them. She slowed her steps.
Nathan matched her pace and gave her a puzzled look, clearly unfazed by the gossip swirling around them.
Any normal person would have stepped away, letting her slip inside alone.
She spoke quietly, “At a time like this, you might want to keep your distance. No need to get caught in the crossfire.”
Nathan’s smile widened. “Crossfire? You mean a few rumors?” He shrugged. “I couldn’t care less.”
Danielle hesitated.
“Come on,” he said, his gaze warm and full of affection. “Who cares what they think? Is being seen with you really supposed to be scandalous?”
It almost sounded like he was hoping for a bit of scandal.
“You’re my sister. There’s nothing out of the ordinary about us arriving together. If people have dirty minds, everything looks dirty to them.”
Danielle considered this. She couldn’t let herself be ruled by public opinion. In the end, she walked inside with him.
Their entrance together only fueled the rumor mill. Whispers spread like wildfire—
That Danielle, after her divorce, was desperate to get back into the Davidson family.
That she knew some secret—whoever was set to inherit the family estate must be her next target.
The Davison family was about to change hands, so she was angling to marry Nathan.
The stories grew more outrageous by the minute.
Eventually, they reached Alexander’s ears.
“Ridiculous,” he said, eyes darkening. His presence alone was enough to silence the room.
After giving her gift to the family matriarch, Danielle was greeted with a wide, genuine smile.
“Even though you and Alex are divorced, I’ll always see you as my granddaughter. The Davidson family is still your home. That won’t change, no matter what happens with him.”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
