“What wish?”
Just then, Nathan walked up from the other side, his gaze shifting between the two of them. “What are you talking about?”
Danielle froze for a moment. She hadn’t expected him to show up at such a crucial moment.
Alexander’s eyes turned icy as he watched Nathan approach. Without a word, he strode away.
Nathan watched Alexander’s retreating figure, then slowly turned his attention back to Danielle, a faintly amused smile on his lips. “What did you say to him to get him so riled up?”
“Riled up?” Danielle doubted anything she said would actually upset Alexander.
Nathan raised an eyebrow. “I could’ve sworn I heard the word ‘marriage’ just now. Are the two of you thinking about getting back together?”
Danielle shook her head. “No.”
“Good.” Nathan’s gaze grew serious. “Alexander may be capable and ambitious, but he’s hardly the ideal husband.”
“As your brother, I should’ve done a better job looking out for you when you first got married. That’s on me.”
“I had no idea he could be so cold to his own wife.” Nathan studied Danielle’s face, his tone measured. “Word is, he’s been linked to that Fletcher girl, and now, with everything going on with Millie, he doesn’t even seem interested in helping.”
Nathan saw it all clearly. But as for Alexander’s true intentions, Danielle couldn’t guess—she couldn’t even begin to understand.
“I’ll find some time to have a real talk with him. A man shouldn’t treat the woman he cares about like this.” Nathan glanced toward the hall. “Come on, let’s go. Grandma’s birthday dinner is about to start.”
Standing in front of Nathan, Danielle felt a strange mix of emotions—something halfway between familiarity and distance. She used to rely on him so much, but now, that familiarity belonged to a different time.
He’d changed since he came back—more composed, deeper somehow.
People grow, and as they do, their emotions become harder for others to read.
Sometimes, Danielle couldn’t figure Nathan out at all.
She believed some people change with the wind, but others remain constant through the years.
Nathan was the latter.

Across the room.
Niki was wandering around the party by herself, a small piece of cake in her hand. Raffy watched her with a look of pure disdain.
Without warning, Raffy marched over, snatched the cake from Niki’s hand, and smashed it onto the floor.
Niki stared at the mess, shocked, then snapped her head up to glare at him.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
