Danielle spoke first. “The terms of the contract have been triggered. I’ll have someone settle the accounts. As for the debt, I expect you to repay every penny.”

“There’s still room to negotiate. You don’t have to be so hasty,” Millie snapped, biting down hard on her lower lip. “Do you really think you win just because you took my company?”

Danielle blinked, a trace of amusement in her eyes. “Why would I bother competing with the other woman?”

That single line wiped the last trace of composure from Millie’s face.

“I hope it’s clear to you now,” Danielle went on, her tone cool and measured, “even without the contract, AetherX Dynamics would still be mine. That includes your mother’s company as well.”

With that, Danielle stood up. “You’re free to do as you wish.”

After Danielle left, Millie’s face twisted in anger and humiliation.

She’d thought Danielle had agreed to this meeting to talk things over, but instead, she’d just been handed a brutal warning.

Millie hurled the file in her hand to the floor with a furious smack.

She invited Alexander, Liam, and a couple of others.

Liam arrived first, and when he saw Keegan walk in, he couldn’t help but blurt out, “My sister says you’re cutting ties with both Alex and the Davidson family’s company. What’s going on?”

Keegan chose a seat and sat down, his expression dark and heavy.

“There’s more to this than you think,” he said quietly.

“If he’s really giving up everything—his power, his influence—what’s Millie supposed to do now?” Liam pressed.

Keegan met his gaze. “Has Millie gotten this far by relying on Alex’s clout to fix every problem?”

“This isn’t something power alone can solve,” Keegan continued, his voice even. “Millie has to face Danielle herself.”

Keegan, as always, saw through to the heart of things.

“Danielle controls all of Newsworld now. Shouldn’t you be thinking about your own situation? What about Cloudpath? Do you think Danielle is going to come after them next? She’s your direct boss now.”

Liam felt a lump in his throat.
