Jake was rarely home, never involved in family matters, yet the entire Davidson household ran under Bianca’s management.
Jake trusted her completely.
“I gave up my youth—my whole life—just for you and the entire Davidson family. And now, the first thing you think of when trouble hits is to kick me out.”
Jake’s gaze was cold as he looked at Bianca. “If I’d known you were running this family into the ground, I’d have divorced you long ago.”
Bianca sagged at his words, her whole body collapsing onto the bench.
Paula rushed to steady her mother.
“Can we not add fuel to the fire? Dad’s already furious as it is.”
The Davidson family was the talk of the town, their scandal still raging online, impossible to suppress. The authorities had started to take notice.
In the tense minutes waiting outside the ER, Jake’s phone rang over and over, relentless.
Danielle watched their argument with icy detachment, saying nothing. Her feelings toward the Davidson family were always distant.
Just then, the ER doors swung open and a doctor stepped out.
“The matriarch’s condition is serious. She’s out of immediate danger, but we’ll need to transfer her to intensive care for close monitoring,” he explained gravely. “She’s elderly, and the shock was too much for her. There are multiple blockages in her arteries. At her age, surgery isn’t an option. Whether she pulls through… that’s up to fate.”
No one was allowed in to see her yet.
Danielle wasn’t even sure how she made it out of the hospital. She found herself sitting on the low wall outside, watching traffic stream past in silence, her mind replaying moments with her grandmother.
None of this was what she’d wanted.
She buried her face in her hands, raking her fingers through her hair. Dropping her gaze to the ground, she suddenly noticed a pair of polished black shoes in front of her.
She slowly looked up.
Gian smiled gently. “There’s no hurdle you can’t get past, Dani. Sometimes, things are simply out of our hands.”
His voice was calm, each word meant to comfort. “If anything happens to your grandmother, it’s not your fault. She loved you, wanted the best for you, but she also put you through a lot, didn’t she?”
For Danielle’s “own good,” her grandmother had sent her places she never wanted to go, left her at the mercy of Alexander and Millie’s cruelty.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
