She was only here today, only staying in the hospital, for her grandmother’s sake.
Her grandmother was the only person she truly cared about in the Davidson family.
“You should know exactly why I’m sitting here, calmly talking to you,” Danielle said, her voice cold but steady. “The only thing that matters to me is what Grandma thinks.”
She glanced at Alexander, a wry smile tugging at her lips. “What’s this, then? Do you still think I have anything to ask of you?”
“Or is it that you’re hoping I’ll help fix things for your precious little darling again, that I’ll be merciful this time?”
“So tell me, Mr. Davidson—what’s your offer now? What’s the bargaining chip this time?”
Last time, he’d traded the entire *Newsworld* for her cooperation. What did he think would be enough now?
This situation was far messier, far more serious than the last.
Danielle couldn’t stand the way Alexander always acted as if he held all the cards.
It struck her as almost comical—no, downright ironic—how, no matter what she did, he always tried to twist it into something sordid.
Now, *Newsworld* belonged to her. She had status, she had power.
What right did he have to negotiate? What could he possibly offer her in exchange?
Danielle had no weaknesses left—nothing anyone could use against her, nothing she lacked.
Her gaze was cool, unwavering, and sharper than ever—a cold, clear intelligence Alexander had never seen in her before.
“I’m not some pawn for you to use,” she said quietly, her face expressionless. “If you’re looking for someone to play along, you’re looking in the wrong place.”
With that, Danielle turned on her heel and strode out, not bothering to look back.
Alexander just stood there, watching her walk away, saying nothing to stop her.
Only one sentence lingered in the air, floating after her as she left: “I wish you all the best in your future—may you rise as high as you dream.”
Coming from anyone else, those words might have sounded sincere, even kind.
But from Alexander’s mouth, they dripped with sarcasm.
Danielle didn’t pause, didn’t glance back. She walked away without hesitation.
Outside the ER, her grandmother was still being resuscitated.
After their tense conversation in the stairwell, Danielle had no desire to talk further.
She was done trying to guess at Alexander’s motives.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
