After Alexander and the others left, the staff at the stables finally relaxed, each letting out a quiet sigh of relief.
"Let's hope Miss Fletcher is alright. Did you see Mr. Davidson? He was hurt, but still looked more worried about her than himself," one whispered.
"They really seem to care about each other," another murmured.
Danielle said nothing, her expression unreadable.
Nearby, Raffy sulked with tears in his eyes, casting resentful glances at Danielle.
Taking a deep breath, Danielle lowered her gaze to the ground where the accident had just happened. The dirt still bore the mark of the fall, and a faint trace of blood lingered.
"Mom…" Niki tugged at Danielle's hand. "That was really scary. Are you sure you're not hurt?"
"I'm fine, sweetheart."
Raffy snapped, "How could she be hurt? Dad's the one who got hurt! If you hadn't been there, the horse would never have gone wild. When I was here with Mom and Dad a few days ago, everything was fine!"
"If Mom really got hurt, Dad would be devastated," Niki whispered.
Danielle's brow remained furrowed, her thoughts troubled.
Everything had happened so fast. Maybe Alexander had tried to save the wrong person in the chaos. But whether it was a mistake or not, he'd gotten hurt, and she hadn't suffered so much as a scratch.
"Stop it, Raffy! Can't you see Mom's still shaken up?" Niki snapped, her eyes rimmed with red.
Raffy puffed up in silence, refusing to speak another word.
She's not even hurt. What does she have to be upset about? he thought bitterly.
Every word stung Danielle more than she cared to admit. Compared to Alexander's coldness and betrayal, Raffy's rejection nearly suffocated her.
She'd raised this boy for five or six years, poured her heart into him, and now this was all she got in return.
If Raffy wanted to choose Millie—his birth mother—she understood. Blood ties were hard to break.
But she never expected that, instead of a shred of concern, all Raffy would offer her was resentment.
Niki chewed her bottom lip. "Mom, about Raffy…"
"He's not my son, and he's not your brother anymore," Danielle said softly, crouching to meet her daughter's eyes. "Do you understand?"
Niki nodded, solemn and sure.
She understood. Raffy had chosen another mother. Her own mother wouldn't want him anymore.
Niki hugged Danielle tightly. "I'll always be your good girl, Mom. You're the only mom I'll ever have."
Though she was still so young, and her words were simple, every syllable was filled with love.
"Dad's hurt," Niki whispered, eyes glistening with tears. "There was so much blood…"
She was worried, Danielle could see.
No matter what had happened, Danielle was unharmed. All the pain and injury had fallen on Alexander.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
