Before Danielle could react, she suddenly found herself in the warmth of someone's arms.
"Mmm—"
A muffled groan sounded in her ear—a man's voice.
It took her a moment to realize what had happened. Alexander had thrown himself between her and the charging horse, shielding her as they were both knocked two, maybe three meters away.
Millie, too, had been flung to the ground, landing even farther off.
The chaos—people and horses tangled in a mess—sent the stable staff into a panic. They rushed over to regain control.
Danielle's heart thudded in her chest. She scrambled off Alexander, only to meet his icy, storm-dark gaze as she got to her feet.
Her breath caught. Alexander was always distant, but now his eyes burned with a cold, unmistakable fury. For the first time, Danielle saw raw anger flicker in his expression.
She looked down. His shirt was torn across his arm and back, streaked with blood—enough to make anyone's heart skip a beat.
She faltered, her voice barely a whisper. "You're hurt—"
But Alexander's gaze remained frigid, unreadable. He didn't answer, didn't even look at her.
Just then, a realization struck Danielle with numbing clarity.
He had saved the wrong person.
After all, she and Millie had been standing close together, both about the same height, both dressed in identical riding clothes. It was only natural that he might make a mistake in the chaos.
Of course.
Why would he ever care what happened to her?
"Mom!"
Niki and Raffy cried out at the same time.
But while Raffy ran past her, straight to Millie, Niki sprinted toward Danielle, his eyes brimming with tears.
"Mom, are you okay?" Niki sniffled, tugging at her hand.
Danielle shook her head gently. "I'm fine."
Niki glanced at Alexander, who was just rising to his feet, bracing himself on the ground. "Dad…"
A member of the staff hurried over. "Sir, ma'am, are you all right?"
Alexander ignored everyone. Without a word, he turned and walked, heavy-footed, straight toward Millie.
Danielle watched him go, a bitter smile twisting her lips.
He felt like a stranger now.
Utterly unfamiliar.
The son she'd once cherished above all else, now looked at her as if she were nobody.
"Raffy." Alexander's voice was low and sharp. "Enough."
Raffy hiccupped, defiance burning in his eyes, but under his father's stern gaze, he finally fell silent.
The stable had emergency protocols in place. Soon, an ambulance arrived and whisked Millie and Alexander away to the hospital.
As they were being loaded into the back, Millie turned pale and fragile, looking at Danielle. "Thank you for taking care of our son," she said softly, her words hanging in the air like a verdict.
With that, she made it clear: Raffy was her son with Alexander, and they were the true family.
Danielle—she was just the hired help.
Alexander finally looked at Danielle, his expression cool and remote. "Take care of Raffy."
Before Danielle could say a word, the door slammed shut and the ambulance sped away.
They never even asked if she wanted to stay and care for him. They never asked what she wanted at all.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
