Still Your Dog? No, I'm Gone novel Chapter 10

After hanging up, Camille fixed me with a cold, strely glare.

Did you hear me?

Go pick up Kieran. And make sure the room’s realy,

I couldn’t have cared less who this despicable woman was meeting

What gnawed at me, though, was the contract.

Ms. Layton, there’s a serious problem with this contract.

As far as I know, the Zane family is tangled up in financial disputes. I’m worried-

Before I could finish, Camille snapped, Max! You’re nothing but a lapdog for my family. You do as I say!

Enough with the nonsense!

1 frowned. Ms. Layton, if that’s the case, you should sign this contract yourself. I’m not getting involved in this project.

What did you just say?Camille’s voice grew louder.

Before I could react, she kicked me hard, sending me sprawling to the floor.

You ungrateful bastard! How dare you talk back to me?

You’re signing this contract, and you’re doing it now.

If you won’t, then get the hell out of my family for good.

She thought her threats would shake me.

But what she didn’t realize was that the only contract I cared aboutwas the one Benson had

drafted.

Luckily, that contract would expire in less than a month.

I gave her one final look. There was no point in continuing this argument.

Dealing with Kieran Zane was my only option.

I left the office without a word and drove straight to him.

He was waiting in a luxury residential neighborhood.

Well, well, if it isn’t the Layton family’s loyal lapdog,he mocked.

Kieran stood with his hands shoved into his pockets. His gaze was oozing contempt.

Chapter 10

He was nothing more than a washedup pretty boy from a disgraced family.

The nerve he had to look down on me was almost laughable.

Open the damn door! A lapdog like you should know better.

With that, Kieran kicked the door and shot me a mocking grin.

I’d already gone out of my way to pick him up. How dare he now expect me to open the door?

He was as ugly on the outside as he was arrogant on the inside.

Ms. Layton’s waiting for you. If you want to see her sooner, you’d better open the door yourself.

My words hit a nerve.

How dare you talk to me like that?Kieran barked.

Believe it or not, one call from me, and you’ll be begging on your knees.

He must be full of nothing but hot air and nonsense.

Honestly, I didn’t have the energy to waste on him.

Go ahead and make the call. Ms. Layton won’t be happy when she finds out.

If she’s in a bad mood tonight, your whole plan’s doomed.

Camille was wildly unpredictable. To her, men were nothing but playthings.

One moment, she seemed like a fragile lamb in bed; the next, she was a fierce storm no one could ignore.

Kieran’s expression faltered at my words, but his anger quickly took over as he climbed into

the car.

Of course, he was desperate to get close to Camillenot just for her beauty, but for her money

as well.

Drive!he barked.

I started the engine. My face was a blank mask.

Nonetheless, I hadn’t forgotten the real reason I was here.
