Still Your Dog? No, I'm Gone novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9

The next day at the office, people kept casting cudous glances my way

When I reached my office door, I finally understood why.

The lock had been changed.

Inside, Camille sat with her legs crossed. She was wearing a mocking smile.

Ms. Layton, could you please unlock my office door?

I threw your things out,Camille sneered. From now on, you can work in the hallway.

Don’t dirty my space.

I remained silent, the moment stretching on like an eternity.

All my documents were packed into three large cardboard boxes on the floor.

Aren’t you leaving yet?

On it.

Without showing any emotion, I gathered the boxes and stepped out.

The office was struck by an unusual sightthe chairwoman’s secretary relegated to working

in the hallway.

Papers lay

y scattered on the floor as I crouched like a punished student, silently immersed in

my work.

Mr. Wexler, this document needs your approval.

A few department heads stopped by. Their tone was courteous, but the judgment in their eyes. was unmistakable.

Very well,I responded evenly.

But as I flipped through the documents, my brow furrowed.

The Zane family?

My mind immediately jumped to the pretty boy Camille had spent the night with.

There’s something off about this.

One of the department heads shot me an indifferent glance and said, Mr. Wexler, this is Ms. Layton’s directive.

Her directive?

What a total fool.

Chapter 9

If this is Ms. Laylon’s decision, then-

Just as I was about to sign, my hand suddenly froze.

I couldn’t bring myself to put my signature on the paper.

If it were simply a routine partnership, maybe I could overlook it.

But this was far more serious.

The Zane family planned to set up a foundation and enter the logistics industry.

Yet they had no experience in this sector. The Layton family wouldn’t just be investing money

they’d have to invest their time and effort as well.

To make things worse, the Zane family was currently facing a financial crisis.

If this deal went through and the Laytons put in their investment, the Zane family would unfairly walk away with half the profits when the company was eventually sold.

I wasn’t concerned about the money; it wasn’t mine to begin with.

But I was the one signing the agreement. If anything went wrong, the blame would fall squarely on me.

In the worst case, I could even face legal repercussions.

Wait just a minute.

Clutching the contract, I stormed into Camille’s office.

Camille

You’re so annoying, giggled into the phone. Her voice was playful and flirtatious

But the moment her eyes landed on me, her expression hardened.

Her lips curled into a faint smirk as she pointed a finger at me.

Come here.

1 approached in silence.

Kneel.

I obeyed without hesitation, crouching down in front of her.

She stretched out one foot toward me.

My shoes are filthy.

With a blank expression, I slid my hand into my pocket, ready to grab a tissue.
