Danielle paused in her stride and turned to look at Gian.
He gave her a gentle, reassuring smile. "Friends don't keep score over things like this."
"There's no need to butt heads with them or waste your energy and time. We should focus on things that actually matter."
Danielle understood exactly what he meant.
Right now, all she wanted was to sort out her marriage as quickly as possible; otherwise, people would keep gossiping.
She took a deep breath, steering the conversation back on track. "Why does Dr. Zachary want to see me?"
"I recommended you," Gian replied. "Mr. Hawthorne put in a good word too. You're a star in the field, and now that you're back, you should have access to every resource you need."
"We can't let your talent go to waste."
—
Danielle followed Gian down the hall to the reception room.
Inside, the large space was already crowded with people.
As she entered, nearly every head turned in her direction.
She was striking, with sharp features and a cool, composed presence—wherever she went, she drew attention.
Most scientists didn't pay much attention to appearances, but Danielle was impossible to overlook.
Mr. Hawthorne was just about to say something when another wave of commotion rippled through the room.
At the entrance, Millie walked in, arm-in-arm with Alexander.
They looked every bit the perfect couple—attractive, polished, and obviously well-matched.
"Mr. Davidson, you're here?" Dr. Zachary turned his gaze to Alexander.
Danielle blinked in surprise and glanced back, seeing Alexander and Millie enter together, their hands intertwined.
Alexander's eyes passed right over Danielle, as if she weren't even there.
In her previous life, Danielle had never paid much attention to Alexander and Millie's professional achievements—she'd been so focused on the home front.
But now she saw that Alexander had been paving the way for Millie's advancement all along.
Meanwhile, within the Davidson Group, Danielle had always been a figurehead, a puppet in name only.
No matter how much she helped with projects, no matter how well she performed, she never received real recognition. She was always just his assistant.
Gian's frown deepened.
At that moment, Mr. Hawthorne stood up and looked at Alexander. "Mr. Davidson, shall we review the conference agenda in the meeting room?"
"Of course," Alexander replied.
Danielle's hands tightened involuntarily.
Only now did she understand: Alexander was here strictly for business. But even with such a brief public appearance, he made sure to bring Millie along, personally clearing the path for her future.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
