It was just that she’d called his name—Alexander.
He turned his head slightly, glancing at her with a faint smile in his eyes.
Alexander was not a man who smiled easily; he was always reserved, almost cold.
But in that moment, the look he gave Millie sent a chill straight through her, icy and unrelenting. Every bone in her body felt as if it might give way, and she nearly lost her footing.
She had come here for the competition, fully prepared to lose her reputation. But now—
It felt as if she might lose everything, even the chance to defend herself.
Millie’s face went ghostly pale, despair written across every feature.
A suffocating sense of dread pressed in from all sides, making it impossible for her to find a way out.
Liam, watching Alexander’s expression, froze for a second himself.
“Aren’t you going to do something? Do you really think Millie is capable of all this?” he muttered.
Kirsten burst out laughing at his words. “Only an idiot like you would keep talking big when you’re about to go under. She’s this close to getting crushed, and you’re still defending her.”
She folded her arms, smirking. “You’re her lapdog. Go on, help her. See what happens when you go up against the whole country. I’d say that’s impressive—real brave of you.”
Liam felt a sting in his chest.
But he and Millie were friends—real friends. When a friend’s in trouble, you don’t just stand by and watch.
Leanne, standing off to the side, had looked unsettled from the start. After seeing her daughter taken away, she quietly slipped back, worry etched deep in her eyes.
There was something off about the whole situation with Millie. She wasn’t convinced things were as simple as they seemed.
Liam kept glancing at Alexander, searching for any sign of support.
Kirsten, arms still crossed, turned her attention to Alexander. “Mr. Davidson, aren’t you going to say something?” she challenged, her voice sharp with triumph.
Wasn’t he supposed to be Millie’s protector?
He’d stood by her side from the beginning—paving her way, building her reputation. Everyone expected to see a new star rising in the field, and it was all thanks to him.
Now that Millie had fallen, Alexander should be the one most devastated.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
