“People will always talk. But do you really believe all those rumors out there?”
Jake lowered his eyes, continuing to sort through the papers on his desk. “Gossip is pointless. The paternity test is the only thing that matters now. It’s the most conclusive proof.”
Alexander met his gaze, a faint smile flickering in his eyes, but never truly reaching them.
“Alex.” Jake set his pen down with a heavy sigh, looking up at his son. “It’s time to step down. Make way for someone else.”
“The Davidson family doesn’t depend on you alone,” Jake continued, his voice steady and resolute. “Your brother will be back soon.”
Bianca had been standing outside, listening to their conversation. When she heard those words, her heart skipped a beat.
Nathan Davidson—Jake’s son from his previous marriage—had spent most of his life overseas. And Alexander had managed the family business for years. How could they just hand everything over to someone returning from abroad, as if all of Alexander’s hard work meant nothing?
She couldn’t let that happen. Without thinking, she pushed open the study door.
“Jake, you can’t just make this decision over one incident.” Bianca’s eyes burned red with tears. “Nathan’s been away for years. How could he possibly run the company now?”
“Alex has devoted himself to the business for so long. You can’t just erase everything he’s done because of this.”
Jake didn’t look up, his voice colder than ever. “This world’s always been about survival of the fittest, Bianca. The capable rise to the top.”
That was the law of society, he thought. It had nothing to do with family ties or titles.
Bianca stared at him, lost and disbelieving.
“Jake—” Her voice shook with grief, the words catching in her throat. She wanted to say so much, but found herself speechless, unable to string the sentences together.
Such was the ruthless logic of powerful families: sentiment meant nothing when weighed against survival.
She turned to Alexander, desperate. “Alex, please—talk to your father. Say something.”
Jake looked up, his eyes sharp. “He’s had too much power for too long. That’s how things spiraled out of control.”
Nothing more needed to be said. His mind was made up.
Bianca felt her knees go weak.
Alexander’s face was expressionless as he rose from his chair. “If my brother really has what it takes, then I’ll step aside.” With that, he turned and walked out of the study.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
