The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 42

Niki's young voice rang out, clear and unwavering.

Bianca froze for a moment before turning to Danielle. "You've raised quite an ambitious daughter. Even if we handed the Davidson family over to her, do you really think she could handle it?"

She leaned forward, her voice sharper. "Danielle, think about this carefully. You don't have money or power—what can you possibly teach Niki? A child raised by you will only suffer. Even if the Davidson family waited for you for ten years, you'd never be their equal."

Niki was still too young and innocent to understand that no matter how hard you try, some divides can't be crossed. Generations of effort can't make up for the legacy of a privileged few.

Danielle's lips curled into a thin, bitter smile. "Is this what your fancy education taught you—to look down on people?"

"Even if I end up with nothing, I'll never beg the Davidsons for a single cent."

Alexander's eyes swept over to Danielle, cold and stern, his voice dropping a few degrees. "Do you even know what you're saying?"

The chill that radiated from him made it clear—he was furious.

Millie quickly stepped in, trying to smooth things over. "Come on, Alexander, Danielle's just upset and talking out of anger. Once she cools off, she'll come around. You're family—you can work through anything."

She glanced at Danielle, her tone softening. "If Alexander ever gives you a hard time, just tell me. I'll stand up for you. If it comes down to it, I'll even rough him up a little for you—help you blow off some steam."

Danielle looked at Millie with nothing but disdain. Her voice dripped with sarcasm. "Really? And how would you do that? Wrestle him in bed?"

It was blatant provocation.

When she finished, Millie turned to Alexander. "Honestly, Alexander, this is your fault. You let Raffy call me 'Mom,' and now look—Danielle's upset, and the whole thing's a mess."

Danielle shot a cold glance at Raffy. The Davidsons had no idea he wasn't really her son. They treated him like the heir to the family, but what would happen if they found out he had no real ties to them at all? The look on their faces would be priceless.

She certainly wouldn't be the one to break the news. Why bother? The grandson Bianca doted on had nothing to do with her—and Danielle had no intention of exposing the truth just to stir up trouble.

Alexander turned to Danielle, his eyes steady. "You know the truth better than anyone. So what are you so jealous about?"
