Millie still carried herself with dignity and pride. “I’ll talk to Alex and get to the bottom of this,” she said firmly.
Without another word, she took Raffy’s hand. “Let’s go.”
Danielle let out a cold, dismissive laugh.
She’d only wanted them to move out peacefully—she had more important things to focus on, and no interest in dragging out any drama. But if they insisted on parading around as if they owned the place, she’d just have to be the one to draw the line.
—
The next morning, Danielle got a call from the real estate agent. The house had a buyer. They wanted to know when she’d be available to sign the paperwork.
She was genuinely surprised. Had Millie and the others already moved out so quickly?
They scheduled the signing for after work that afternoon.
Danielle headed to work at Ninesky as usual.
Meanwhile, Millie was supposed to report in for her first day.
But as the clock ticked by, there was still no sign of her. An hour passed; she was officially late.
Kirsten Delaney’s patience snapped. “Does she think she’s some kind of VIP? Who does she think Ninesky is, her personal playground?”
Gian glanced at his watch. “Let’s start the meeting without her.”
Normally, they’d introduce the new hire before anything else. But Millie’s late arrival felt like a deliberate power play.
Halfway through the meeting, the door swung open.
“Sorry I’m late.” Millie strode in, dressed in a sharp, androgynous suit that made her look both poised and self-assured. She faced the group calmly. “What do you need me to do?”
“Let’s start with an introduction,” someone suggested.
Millie introduced herself, laying out her credentials without a hint of modesty.
When she finished, the room erupted in polite applause.
“So young, and already two doctorates… Impressive,” someone whispered.
Millie was fiercely independent—she would never complain to Alexander about work. That would only make people think he wasn’t competent enough to help her. She was confident it was only a matter of time before Gian realized who really deserved to be at the heart of the tech department.
There was a brief pause on the other end.
“Alex?” she prompted.
“You’re working hard,” Alexander said gently. “I’ve ordered lunch for you from Cloudwood Private Kitchen. There’s enough for everyone at the office. It’ll be delivered soon.”
Cloudwood Private Kitchen didn’t normally do takeout, but Alexander had always found a way to bend the rules for Millie.
Privilege had its perks.
A sweet smile broke across her face.
As she left the restroom, she almost bumped into Danielle.
Danielle hadn’t intended to eavesdrop—she just happened to walk in at the right moment and caught the tail end of the call. Alexander’s tone with Millie was never cold; he always sounded warm and gentle.
Millie caught Danielle’s eye and waved her phone. “Let’s have lunch together.”

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
