The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 191

They reached the registration desk, and the clerk began walking them through the process.

"Are you both sure you want to file for divorce?" she asked, her tone routine.

"Absolutely," Danielle replied without a moment's hesitation.

The clerk glanced at Alexander for confirmation.

He nodded once. "Yes."

With that, the clerk slid a stack of documents across the counter for them to sign.

Danielle took the papers and scanned through the details. There, printed in official type, it stated that from the date of filing, there was a 30-day waiting period—a time to reconsider. Either party could withdraw the application if they changed their mind within that window.

She lowered her gaze, picked up the pen, and signed her name with steady resolve.

Alexander, on the other hand, struggled. His hand, still not fully healed from an old injury—probably aggravated again when he'd picked Niki up after her fall—trembled as he wrote, his signature slow and uneven.

Danielle said nothing, simply waiting patiently until he finished.

When both signatures were finally on the page, they handed the forms back to the clerk.

That was it. The process was officially complete.

"This is your divorce application receipt. Please keep it safe," the clerk said, handing Danielle a slip of paper.

She took it and stared at the words, feeling a subtle rush of relief. Clutching the receipt, a sense of certainty and calm settled in her chest—something she hadn't felt in a long time.

Alexander glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, then quickly looked away, his face expressionless.

As they stepped out into the brisk air outside city hall, Alexander broke the silence. "Where are you headed? I'll drive you."

His tone was distant, but polite.

"Is that really necessary, Mr. Davidson?" Danielle shot him a look. "We're about to be divorced. No need to keep pretending."

Her sarcasm didn't faze him; his face remained unreadable.

When Danielle declined the offer, Alexander didn't press the matter. She understood he was just being courteous—a final gesture, nothing more.

They went their separate ways.

Danielle, her emotions pent up for far too long, knew she needed a night to let loose—some way to vent everything she'd been carrying.

"One month from now," Kirsten said, "you'll be a free woman."

Danielle grinned. "Yeah. Finally free."

Gian arrived downstairs to pick them up.

Except his expression was anything but celebratory.

Kirsten arched an eyebrow. "What's with the face? Today's supposed to be happy. Why the long look?"

Gian shook his head. "I just saw your ex-husband at city hall. He couldn't wait to go out drinking with his beloved as soon as he got the papers signed."

He held out his phone, showing them a post from Millie's social media.

["Big days call for big drinks! Not going home 'til we're wasted—cheers to Alex's newfound freedom!"]
