Early the next morning.
By eight o'clock, Danielle had signed Niki's discharge papers.
Her grandmother called, insisting she come back to the family home for breakfast—and bring Niki along.
"I've arranged a special nourishing soup," her grandmother said, "something to help Niki recover."
Danielle held the phone, her voice calm and steady as she replied, "That's not necessary, Grandma. Niki needs rest right now."
There was a long pause on the other end.
"Dani... you're still upset with me, aren't you?"
"It's my fault. I'm just an old woman who failed to look after Niki properly."
Danielle pressed her lips together, silent for a while.
Lowering her gaze, she packed Niki's things as she spoke. "Grandma, what happened was an accident. There's no point assigning blame."
"You're getting older, and watching over children is exhausting. Niki's a handful. Next time, I'll bring her by to visit you."
Her meaning couldn't have been clearer.
That "next time" was a vague promise, one that might never come.
Danielle would never again leave Niki alone with anyone from the Davidson family.
She trusted her grandmother—she knew her love for Niki and for herself was genuine. But she hadn't expected Grandma to let Alexander take Niki away without telling her. She should have seen it coming.
At the time, life was just too hectic to think it through.
On the other end, her grandmother could only sigh in resignation.
"Then let Niki rest. I'll have someone from the house send over some things for her."
"No need, Grandma. I know what Niki likes to eat."
For a moment, her grandmother was taken aback.
Was Danielle really cutting her off from caring for Niki entirely?
She lowered her eyes, guilt and helplessness churning inside her. In the end, the old woman just murmured a few words of concern and hung up the phone.
Danielle stared at the screen for a moment, then slid her phone away.
The call wouldn't go through. Blocked.
So Alexander had cut her off.
Her eyes hardened. They'd signed the papers yesterday—was he really backing out now?
She stood, about to check outside, when she saw Alexander sweeping in through the main doors, dressed in a black shirt.
"Sorry I'm late," he said.
Danielle met his eyes, her expression unreadable. She said nothing.
At least he showed up.
He studied her pale, composed face, his own voice cool and distant. "Have you eaten?"
Danielle had no patience for small talk.
"Let's just get this over with," she replied curtly.
Rebuffed, Alexander said nothing more.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
