Danielle froze in her tracks, her heart pounding. She turned back, her eyes cold as ice.
"Whether he lives or dies, it has nothing to do with me."
With those words, she turned on her heel and walked away, shopping bags in hand.
Millie stared after her, stunned for a moment. So stubborn?
If she hadn't come to check on Alexander, then what was she doing in the hospital?
Leanne shot Danielle's retreating figure a look of utter disdain, then let out a sharp, mocking laugh. "Just like her mother—always pretending to be above everyone else."
"That's enough, Mom," Millie interjected, trying to steer her mother away. "Let's go upstairs."
They went up to Alexander's room. Leanne brought him good news about the latest deal, and the cake she carried was meant to celebrate—since Alexander couldn't attend the party, she'd brought it to the hospital.
After they'd eaten the cake, Leanne excused herself, citing urgent business at the office. She left soon after.
Millie tidied up the table, glancing at Alexander as she spoke. "I ran into Danielle downstairs. She was carrying a lot of groceries."
Alexander sat on the bed, eyes fixed on his laptop as he worked. It was hard to tell how much of Millie's words even registered; his expression barely changed.
The truth was, Alexander seemed completely indifferent to any mention of Danielle, as if he just didn't want to know.
Millie kept talking, filling the silence. "I thought she came to see you, so I told her not to worry because I'm here. But she told me your life or death wasn't her concern."
She looked over at Alexander's impassive face. "Did you two have a fight? Ever since I got back, it seems like things have been tense between you…"
"Want me to talk to her? Maybe at least clear the air."
For the first time, Alexander looked up, his eyes giving nothing away. "She knows exactly where things stand. There's nothing to explain."
Millie let it go, sensing there was no point in pushing further.
"The doctor said you'll need to stay here another three days. You'll probably have scars on your hand and back."
No matter how tough things had been for SoarCorp before, the company had never seen such a sudden, steep drop. This was nothing short of sabotage—cutthroat corporate warfare.
"Stop staring at that screen, honey. Just looking at all that work stuff gives me a headache, let alone you…" Vivian reached over, squeezing Danielle's hand. "Focus on your own life. Leave these problems to me."
"I've already mortgaged the house out by the lake," Vivian said softly. "That'll keep us afloat a little longer. Once I'm back on my feet, I'll find a way."
Danielle gripped her laptop tighter. "You mortgaged it?"
"What about the investors?"
"We had some lined up for the big project, but now all the major suppliers have pulled out. It'll cost a fortune to recruit new ones," Vivian admitted, her exhaustion showing in every word.
Danielle drew a shaky breath.
Leanne and her crowd were out for blood—they wanted to crush SoarCorp, leaving no room for survival.
Leanne's goal was to push Vivian out and marry Orson herself, while Orson kept stalling the divorce, all to get his hands on SoarCorp's assets.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
