Facing her uncle's pointed question, Danielle's brows knitted almost imperceptibly.
Her uncle had no idea that she and Alexander were getting a divorce. Back when she'd married into the Davidson family, her grandmother was still alive, and Danielle had always kept her troubles to herself, only sharing the good news. Everyone believed she was living well.
Besides, with old Mrs. Davidson standing up for her, she'd always had some protection.
Now, though, her uncle's health was failing, and at such a delicate moment, Danielle couldn't bring herself to tell him about the divorce. She worried it would be too much for him to handle.
She hesitated, unsure how to answer. Alexander had never involved himself in her family affairs. Even last time, when her grandmother reserved a private room at a restaurant specifically to remember the anniversary of her mother's passing, he'd known about it—he'd just chosen not to come.
In the earlier years, when her mother was still alive, he'd reluctantly accompanied her for these visits. But after her mother died, he'd never set foot in the Linden household again.
Danielle swiftly changed the subject. "Let's set up the memorial offerings first."
Just then, someone from the Linden family came to announce, "Mrs. Davidson is here."
Alexander's grandmother, Helen Davidson, was already in her nineties and walked with a cane, moving carefully. She carried a box of her late daughter's favorite pastries and a roast chicken, prepared just this morning.
Danielle went to greet her. "Grandma."
Helen smiled, handing over the treats. "Put these out, will you? This roast chicken was Matilda's favorite. I got up early to make it myself—just in time."
"That's so thoughtful of you, Grandma. Mom would be so happy."
Vivian and Clyde Linden both exchanged warm greetings with Helen; it had been a while since they'd seen each other, and the conversation was full of gentle nostalgia.
Still, Clyde kept glancing toward the door.
Today, Helen was the only one from the Davidson family to show up.
She caught Clyde's look and said, "Don't worry—Alex will be here soon."
Clyde just grunted, saying nothing. He couldn't understand how his grandson-in-law could be so thoughtless, not even showing up for the third anniversary of his mother-in-law's passing.
Vivian, knowing about Danielle and Alexander's situation, quickly smoothed things over. "Let's finish setting up the altar."
Niki, Danielle's young daughter, rolled up her sleeves and piped up in her sweet, soft voice, "I want to help out too, Mommy!"
Then, in the background, a woman's voice—Millie—came through the line. "Alex, come help me with this! Who are you talking to?"
They must have been out shopping together.
Danielle drew a deep breath, then hung up without another word.
She returned to the house, her face set. Everyone else was busy, but there was an unspoken tension in the air—they were all waiting for Alexander to arrive before starting the memorial.
Minutes ticked by. An hour passed. Helen looked more and more upset.
Danielle's expression remained composed. She wasn't surprised at all.
Kirsten, her cousin, finally broke the uneasy silence, her tone chilly. "Who does Alexander think he is, keeping everyone waiting? Can't he at least be decent as things end? They're about to divorce and he still acts so superior!"
"It's fine," Danielle replied quietly. "This is exactly what I expected from him."
Today, just as she'd thought, Alexander was with Millie.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
