The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 131

It was nothing more than the fact that Millie was in the office right now.

She'd always come and gone as she pleased in Alexander's company; Danielle had seen how smooth things were for her the last time she'd visited.

The assistant, seeing Danielle's calm indifference, grew bored and let out a cold scoff. "What are you pretending for?"

With that snide remark, he turned on his heel and left.

Danielle waited in the lounge for three hours.

She sat there until she was numb, but Nash never came to fetch her.

Eventually, she spotted Nash emerging from the corridor and stood up to ask him.

Nash paused, looking surprised. "Mr. Davidson went to discuss a project with Miss Fletcher at Intellectech. I told the assistant to inform you—didn't you get the message?"

Danielle's brows knit together for a moment before she let out a wry, mocking laugh.

So the assistant had come by just to make snide comments, yet hadn't bothered to mention Alexander had already left.

Nash knew who Danielle was, and though he felt a hint of sympathy for her—a wife so routinely neglected by her own husband—he couldn't quite hide the contempt in his eyes. No matter how polite he acted, that disdain was always simmering just beneath the surface.

Everyone had heard the rumors: Danielle had schemed her way into Alexander's life, ousting Miss Fletcher from her position.

With the way she was treated now, it was hard to say whether to pity her or to think she'd brought it upon herself.

After leaving Newsworld, Danielle called Alexander once more.

Still no answer.

She pressed her lips together, frowning. It was as if he was deliberately avoiding her, stringing her along on purpose.

Yet she had no choice—she needed him to sign off on the final details of her mother's project.

After weighing her options, Danielle decided to leave work early and wait at the preschool for Raffy.

There was always a chance Alexander might show up to pick him up.

She scrolled through the news on her phone to pass the time.

#Newsworld CEO Mr. Davidson Attends Intellectech's Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony With Girlfriend#

The headline caught her eye.

She tapped on it and saw a photo of Alexander and Millie standing together at Intellectech's launch, smiling for the cameras.

So while she'd spent all morning waiting at the office, he'd been out supporting Millie and her company.

Danielle's grip tightened around her phone.

When the call ended, Danielle let out a cold laugh.

He was always so quick to protect Millie.

Her grandmother's third memorial was held at the Linden family home.

In previous years, only a few relatives would visit the cemetery quietly.

But this time, they planned a family gathering to remember her, before heading out to the gravesite.

Her uncle had been discharged from the hospital especially for the occasion, dressed all in black. He looked pale and gaunt now, a shadow of the vibrant man he'd once been.

Danielle's eyes stung with tears.

Illness could strip a person of everything—even their very face.

Vivian stayed close by his side, hovering protectively, as if afraid he might collapse at any moment.

When her uncle saw Danielle arrive, holding Niki's hand, he smiled and pinched the little girl's cheek, then glanced behind them. "Where are Alex and Raffy?"

His smile faded, and his face clouded over. "They've missed the memorial before, but the third anniversary, too?"
