From the very beginning, Danielle hadn't paid much attention to Mr. Wilson.
After all, a big shot like him attracted everyone's attention. There was no need to force her way into that crowd.
Instead, she planned to meet with the two secretaries.
Secretaries to top government officials carried real power and high rank; plenty of people wanted a word with them.
Yet, so far, the two had stayed hidden away in a private lounge backstage. No one bothered to seek them out—no one even knew which room they were in.
Millie, on the other hand, had a very clear goal.
Mr. Hawthorne from the Blackwood Research Institute.
Since she hadn't started her own company yet, she hoped Mr. Hawthorne would take her under his wing.
She'd seen him before at an open house at the institute, but they'd barely spoken. The missed opportunity nagged at her, and now she wanted a real conversation.
It took some effort, but she finally tracked Mr. Hawthorne down backstage.
He was quietly sipping tea.
She approached with a friendly smile. "Mr. Hawthorne, we met once before."
Mr. Hawthorne glanced at her, nodded politely, but kept his distance. He was impressed she'd managed to find him here at all.
Still smiling, Millie continued, "I finished my doctorate abroad, and now I want to pursue further research back home."
"I've always admired your work—you've led our country's aerospace field to new heights."
"Hardly," Mr. Hawthorne said, waving off the compliment.
"I've got a few projects in mind, but I'm in need of a mentor. I was hoping for your guidance…"
She finally made her intentions clear.
If someone like Mr. Hawthorne agreed to take her on, her future in the field would be as bright as Gian's—who had founded Ninesky Technologies and built it up from nothing.
Mr. Hawthorne smiled, setting his teacup aside. "I'm afraid there's nothing I can teach you."
A polite way of turning her down.
"Why do you say that?" Millie pressed. "You—"
He cut her off. "You're very talented, but you know my standards for students."
"Someone like Sophia—how close are you to that level?"
Millie hesitated.
Just as she was about to approach, she caught sight of Alexander escorting Millie over to meet the secretaries.
Danielle paused, frowning slightly. She had to admit, Alexander's connections were impressive.
No matter the occasion, he always managed to introduce Millie to the right people.
He was genuinely invested in her future.
With them already engaged in conversation, Danielle had no choice but to wait in the sun.
If she interrupted now, it would only annoy them.
But the meeting dragged on.
It wasn't until the secretaries checked the time and prepared to leave that things wrapped up.
Millie stood and shook their hands, saying goodbye.
Just then, Alexander stepped aside to take a phone call.
Danielle let out a slow breath, watching them head toward the parking lot. There was no way she could catch up now. She quickly called Gian and asked him to try to intercept them.
Hanging up, she turned to go.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
