Danielle lowered her gaze, watching as Millie clung to Alexander's arm—a clear, public declaration that she was the woman by his side.
A cold smirk tugged at Danielle's lips. Millie was quite the actress. When it was just the three of them, she'd call Danielle "sister-in-law," but in front of a crowd, she reverted to "Miss Crawford." Danielle had seen through all these petty, two-faced games long ago.
Alexander, as always, wore that calm, indifferent mask. Yet with Millie, he was patient—almost attentive.
Vivian's brows knitted together as she watched the cozy display, her face turning nearly ashen. She knew exactly how this felt, never imagining her own daughter would have to endure it too.
She started forward, intent on saying something, but Danielle caught her arm.
Leaning in close, Danielle spoke calmly into her mother's ear. "Remember why we're here today. Don't start any unnecessary arguments—we need to leave a good impression on the investors."
It was obvious Millie was deliberately goading them, hoping they'd lose their composure and embarrass themselves.
But Danielle no longer cared. Whatever happened between them, she refused to let it trouble her any longer.
Ignoring Millie completely, Danielle fixed her gaze on Zane. "If Mr. Evans won't see us today, then we'll wait here until he does."
She looked delicate, but her back was ramrod straight, her resolve unshakable.
If she couldn't get the meeting today, she wasn't leaving.
Millie, for her part, might as well have been invisible.
Millie pressed her lips together in a polite smile and turned to Zane. "Did Mr. Evans have other appointments today?" she asked, the implication unmistakable.
Zane, no stranger to these games, knew exactly where the power lay. With Alexander's status, he couldn't afford to be negligent.
The truth was, this was all about project funding. Mr. Evans was busy, so he'd scheduled both interested parties at the same time. No one had expected Alexander to show up in person. If he hadn't, it would have been a joint meeting. But now, with so many people crowded together, it risked looking like a slight to someone of Alexander's standing.
Zane glanced coolly at Danielle and her mother. "As you can see, if you insist on seeing Mr. Evans, it'll have to depend on whether Mr. Davidson and his girlfriend are willing to let you join."
He was nothing if not diplomatic.
Danielle was determined not to let this opportunity slip away. They needed the money—securing this investment was crucial.
Mr. Evans came forward to greet Alexander personally.
"If I'd known you were coming today, Mr. Davidson, I'd have chosen somewhere even nicer," he said warmly.
Alexander gave him a handshake and the faintest of smiles. "This is business—I'm just here with Mrs. Crawford. No need to fuss over me."
His words were modest, but with Alexander present, no one would dare be careless.
Mr. Evans chuckled. "Just last Friday, I saw you all at the Lakeview Resort in Cloudcrest. Didn't want to interrupt your fun."
"The resort is mine, by the way. Next time you're there, it's on the house. If anything's not to your liking, let me know—I'll take care of it personally."
Danielle froze.
Last Friday… That was the night Raffy had a fever. Alexander had told her he was away on business.
A bitter laugh echoed inside her. So that's where he'd really been—on a date with Millie.

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
