Halsey was speechless. She had no idea what Elise was talking about.

Before Halsey could react, Elise held up Halsey’s hand and slapped herself across the face.

Elise staggered back a couple of steps, almost falling. Just then, a hand reached out and grabbed her arm, steadying her.

Elise looked up. “Mr. Lane.”

Halsey saw Shaun, too. Actually, Elise’s strange behavior had already made Halsey suspect Shaun was nearby.

This whole scene of Elise acting out in front of Shaun was honestly ridiculous.

Elise looked up at Shaun with a face full of grievance. “Don’t blame Ms. Mallin. She didn’t mean to slap me.”

Shaun turned to Halsey. “Why did you slap her?”

Halsey was speechless. She stared at Elise. “Did I slap you?”

Elise immediately shook her head, scared. “No, Mr. Lane, Ms. Mallin didn’t slap me. It’s a misunderstanding… I think I must’ve done something wrong to make her angry.”

Halsey smiled coldly and stepped forward until she was standing in front of Shaun and Elise.
