The Heartbreak Prescription novel Chapter 959

Chapter 959

Halsey looked down and washed her hands, not planning to engage with Elise at all.

However, Elise came up beside her and turned on the other faucet to wash her hands too.

“Hello, Ms. Mallin,” she said, speaking first.

Halsey replied quietly, “Hello.”

Elise smiled. “Honestly, I kind of envy you. Even though you’re not Mrs. Lane, you’re carrying Mr. Lane’s baby. That alone puts you above a lot of people in his eyes.”

Halsey turned off the water and grabbed a paper towel to dry her hands. She didn’t respond and just waited silently for Elise to

continue.

Sure enough, Elise went on with a teasing smile, “Even though you’re carrying Mr. Lane’s child, the title of Mrs. Lane isn’t yours. Honestly, I think you’ve failed. People say a mother gains status through her child, but you’re pregnant and still can’t claim that spot. I’ve never seen anything like it—you really are a failure.”

Elise was mocking her.

Halsey turned to face Elise. “What exactly do you want to say?”

Elise stepped closer.

“I don’t want to say much. I’m just kindly warning you to stay away from my Mr. Lane. You’re pregnant, but he hasn’t married you, which means he doesn’t really care for you. There are plenty of women who are into him, and I’m sure soon someone else will take that spot.”

Halsey smirked. “Is that someone you? Do you want to be Mrs. Lane?”

Elise flipped her hair, and smiled confidently and sweetly. “I never said that. All I know is that Mr. Lane said you’re not Mrs.

Lane.”

Halsey placed her hand on her belly. “I’m not Mrs. Lane, that’s true. But you’re right-I am carrying Shaun’s child. Doesn’t that prove that I am special in a way?”

Elise’s expression shifted slightly.

Halsey went on, “I don’t know what your goal is, but instead of wasting time mocking me, why not focus on Shaun? To me, your mockery just shows how insecure you are. Has he not fallen for you yet? Then you really need to step up. Like you said, a lot of people are into Shaun. Maybe tomorrow, a new secretary will replace you. But I’ll always be the mother of his child.”

Elise fell silent. Her smile vanished, replaced by a cold sneer.

“Don’t be so full of yourself. You’re just a worn-out toy Mr. Lane played with!”

Halsey’s eyes narrowed. She stepped forward and whispered in Elise’s ear, “Have you ever been played by him?”

Elise was caught off guard.

Halsey smiled. “See? You haven’t even experienced him. Deep down, you want to be his worn-out toy, don’t you?”

Elise was speechless.

Halsey grinned. “Well then, you’d better get to work.”

With that, Halsey turned and walked away.
