Chapter 966
Halsey was curious about what move Gilbert would make next. She pressed the button to answer, and his voice came through quickly.
“Hey, are you free? Let’s go grab brunch.”
“I don’t think we’re close enough to be going for meals together,” Halsey said. “If you don’t have anything important to say, I’m hanging up.”
She was about to end the call, but Gilbert stopped her.
“No, don’t hang up. Come out. I need to talk to you about Shaun.”
About Shaun?
”
Halsey sneered. “Fine, I’ll be there now.” 1
She arrived at the café and soon spotted Gilbert already waiting for her.
Halsey sat across from him. “Spill. What do you want to talk to me about?”
Gilbert smiled slightly. “Don’t be so impatient. Let’s start with some coffee first.”
Halsey looked at the coffee in front of her. “I wouldn’t dare drink this. How do I know you haven’t slipped something into it?”
Gilbert said nothing.
“You tried to drug me and tie me to an operating table,” Halsey continued, “I seriously think you’re crazy. Three years ago, you hurt Shaun-you made him fall off that cliff, ruin his face, and then blamed me for it.”
Gilbert’s expression flickered, but he didn’t admit anything. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. If things went wrong between you and Shaun, you can’t just blame me. I really didn’t do anything.”
Halsey barely recognized Gilbert anymore.
She didn’t understand how on earth he had turned out this way.
Back then, when he and Sienna betrayed her, Halsey didn’t hold a grudge. Yet, he kept hurting her and Shaun over and over
again.
Gilbert took a sip of coffee. “Shaun already has someone new by his side. It’s not Chelsea, but Elise. I heard Shaun took Elise shopping at a jewelry store last night, and bought her a diamond bracelet.”
What?
Halsey froze. Shaun went shopping with Elise last night, and even bought her a diamond bracelet?
Gilbert smirked. “See? Your relationship with Shaun can’t even survive the test. Elise has become his new love. You’re working so hard to carry his child, but he’s out there having fun with others.”
Halsey furrowed her brow, but in all honesty, she didn’t believe what Gilbert was saying.
“The child in my belly is Shaun’s, but it’s also mine. I don’t think having a baby is something women do just for men. I’m not putting all the responsibility on him. I’m doing this for my child, for myself.”
Gilbert was caught off guard. He hadn’t expected her to say that.
“If that’s all, I’m leaving,” Halsey said.
