Camille’s voice was so high–pitched and piercing that I had to quickly cover my ears. She stormed over, pointing at me as she shouted furiously.
“I cannot stay at the project site for even a day longer. Look at what I have to suffer here! I can’t have any decent food or restful sleep, and dirt is all over my face. For God’s sake, there isn’t even a place for me to take a shower!”
I glanced at Camille and asked coldly, “What do you mean by no decent food?”
She grabbed her food container in a huff and smashed it on the ground next to my food. “Is this slop supposed to be food?”
The dishes met the standards; they were complete with meat and vegetables. I frowned and responded, “This is the highest standard meal the company provides. The workers didn’t have any problems with it. So, what’s up with you?
“Do you consider yourself above them? Do you have any idea how many people have to constantly worry about their next meal? Who gave you the right to waste food the way you just did?”
Camille sneered and stared at me. Her eyes completely lacked regret and repentance.
“If this is a meal provided by the company, it means the Layton Group footed the bill. So, I have the right to waste as much of it as I want. You don’t have the right to boss me around!”
Camille grew more smug as she spoke. She fixed a condescending gaze on me and pointed at
me as she threatened me.
“You’re the CEO, and I expect you to solve my problems!”
I sneered. “And what might they be?”
Camille counted on her fingers before speaking. “I want Royal Delight House’s signature dishes, and each meal will cost no less than 1888 dollars. Also, I want a lounge to be built here, complete with a changing room and bathroom.
“Don’t forget about a canopy too. Dust is everywhere, and the sunlight is too harsh!”
Her ridiculous conditions were nothing but absurd. “Camille, you’re here to work, not flaunt your status as the daughter of a rich man! I’m afraid I can’t meet your conditions.”
“What?” Her voice immediately became much more piercing. Her expression was frigid as she stared at me intensely. She started threatening me in a grim voice. “Listen to me carefully, Max. If you don’t solve the problems I told you, I’m gonna quit my job!”
I chuckled coldly. “Quit your job? Sure thing. I’ll give Mr. Layton a call and ask him if he’ll agree to your ridiculous conditions.”
Chapter 37

“Why, you!” Camille’s eyes were filled with rage as she glared at me viciously.
“Also, I have some advice for you, Ms. Layton. Northborough’s project is your very first project, and the board of directors is keeping an eye on it.
“If you mess it up, do you think they will feel confident in making you the next CEO or even chairwoman?
“You’re tearing yourself down, and that’s going to ruin your reputation. Worse, your actions might even spoil your father’s fame and Layton Group’s image!
“That’s all I have to say for now. I’ll leave it to you to think about the specific actions you should take. Ms. Layton, you’re on your own!”
Then, I turned around and drove away without hesitation, leaving Camille alone to sulk and curse as she pleased.
