The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 68

She slipped into the restroom, washed her hands, and used the toilet while she was there.

She had barely finished when voices drifted in from the corridor.

"Did you hear? Mr. Atwood turned Millie down—over some woman."

"I saw Millie myself this morning, she came to the office to meet Mr. Atwood. God, she's stunning. So confident, so cool, almost intimidating—she's the rising star of the industry right now. Not only is she brilliant, but she's also friends with Mr. Davidson. I honestly don't get Mr. Atwood."

"Seriously. Mr. Atwood passed on Millie—who has a PhD, for crying out loud—to hire some girl with just a bachelor's degree? Makes no sense."

Another girl chimed in, lowering her voice: "Come on, what's so hard to understand? Obviously, she must have pulled some strings. Everyone at Ninesky Technologies has at least a master's. If someone with zero experience and no credentials gets in, what else could it be?"

Danielle caught every word, clear as a bell.

Expression calm, she opened the stall door and stepped out to the sink to wash her hands.

The girls who'd been gossiping fell silent at once.

Danielle didn't say a word. She dried her hands, turned, and walked out.

Behind her, one girl whispered, "She's gorgeous, isn't she…"

"Yeah, she's pretty, but I've never seen her before. She must be the newbie Mr. Atwood pulled strings to bring in, right?"

"Must be. I heard she came to visit Ninesky before."

Once everyone was gathered in the conference room, Gian led Danielle to the front to introduce her.

"This is Danielle, our newest team member. She'll be joining us on project analysis and satellite orbit calculations—she's got experience across several fields."

A rookie as the chief designer of Verdphoenix X7? What a joke.

Audrey's words echoed in the room as she turned and stormed out.

Danielle's brows knit together, just barely.

The rest of the team exchanged uneasy glances.

None of them were as openly furious as Audrey. After all, they'd worked under Gian for years—they knew his character. If he'd brought Danielle in, maybe he had his reasons.

"Mr. Atwood, I heard you brought our new colleague to the Blackwood Research Institute's open day," someone said, breaking the silence. "Ninesky's always valued fairness—no one's ever been turned away over their degree. But if Audrey can't accept this, and if Danielle can't prove herself and ends up slowing us down, if she refuses to leave, then honestly, the rest of us might start thinking about leaving too."

"Miss Crawford, do you have anything you'd like to say?"
