After the morning seminar, it was finally lunchtime.
The Blackwood Research Institute hosted all the visitors in their staff dining hall.
Gian led Danielle in that direction, blending into the gentle hum of conversation.
"To be honest, even after all these years, this place hasn't changed much," he remarked.
Danielle gave him a small smile. "You're right."
The building looked the same, but the people—well, that was a different story.
She rubbed her temples, feeling a wave of dizziness. Lately, she'd been running on empty, skipping meals and losing sleep. Her body was starting to sound the alarm.
Gian noticed her discomfort. "Why don't you go grab a seat? I'll get your lunch."
Danielle shook her head, embarrassed to trouble him again. "That's okay. I can manage."
But Gian looked unconvinced, worry creasing his brow. "If you're not feeling well, I can take you to the lounge to rest. You can skip the afternoon events."
He knew all too well how Danielle had been burning the candle at both ends—preparing for her new job, keeping her professional skills sharp, raising her child. She didn't even have to come to the Blackwood Research Institute's open house; she'd be working here soon enough. But Danielle insisted, drawn in by the lectures—and maybe by the chance to remind everyone she was back.
Whatever she did, she did it with everything she had.
"I'm fine," Danielle insisted.
But as she stood in line, tray in hand, her vision suddenly went black and she felt herself tipping backward.
Panic raced through her—she was going to fall—when a strong pair of hands caught her, steadying her before she hit the ground.
"Are you alright?" Gian's face was etched with concern.
"Just a bit of low blood sugar. I'll be fine after a minute." Danielle tried to brush it off, glancing up as she made her way to a nearby table—only to lock eyes with Alexander.
The results were hardly surprising: low blood sugar and anemia.
Because she wasn't feeling well, she postponed her meeting with Attorney Stewart by a day. It wouldn't be polite to meet anyone in this state.
Danielle shrugged it off; she was sure she'd bounce back soon enough.
"If your body's already reacting like this, you really need to slow down and take care of yourself," Gian said gently.
Danielle gave him a lopsided smile. "The doctor said it's nothing serious."
No matter how exhausting her own career became, it would never be as draining as being Mrs. Davidson.
"I'll be at the office tomorrow as planned. It's time I met the new team."
Gian knew there was no changing her mind. He just shook his head. "Just take it easy, okay? If you collapse, who's going to look after Niki?"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
