The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 560

Danielle had no idea where they were headed now.

Alexander turned his head, casting a slow, unhurried glance her way.

Noticing the tension on her face, his tone was almost teasing. “Nervous?”

Of course she was. This was about their daughter’s safety—the very thing Danielle had been investigating for weeks.

She drew a deep breath, pulling her gaze away from him to stare straight ahead.

“Niki is your daughter too.” Danielle’s voice was surprisingly flat, almost emotionless. “Even if you don’t feel anything for her, she’s still your flesh and blood.”

Alexander’s grip on the steering wheel tightened, his knuckles paling, though his expression didn’t change.

“She’s in danger. You won’t just stand by and watch. Like last time, when she fell into the lake—you jumped in after her.” Danielle looked at him. “Is it because you resent me that you’re distancing yourself from Niki? Or is it that you think I’ve betrayed you somehow, and you doubt she’s even yours?”

This was the first time they’d laid it all out like this.

Alexander spoke slowly. “Why would I hate you?”

The question caught Danielle off guard. She paused, her eyes narrowing as she looked at him.

“Given what happened before, our marriage wasn’t exactly a love match,” she said quietly.

Alexander gave a slight, bitter twist of his lips. Through the rearview mirror, he looked at the woman in the passenger seat. “You were drugged. I wasn’t.”

“Just like last time—you were drugged again.”

His words landed like a punch to her chest.

She stiffened, her fingers curling tight in her lap.

What he meant was clear enough: whatever happened between them, he had been fully aware, fully consenting.

“Then—” Danielle started, but the rest of her question died on her lips.

“Do you really think love is a prerequisite for that sort of thing?” His voice was cold, detached.
