The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 557

Millie clenched her jaw. “If he truly didn’t care about me, why would he go to such lengths to help? Every step I've taken since coming home was paved by him.”

Leanne scoffed. “That’s because you were useful to him. You had commercial value. Now that you don’t, just wait and see if he sticks around or tosses you aside.”

Businessmen always value profit above all else. The moment you’re no longer useful, you’re bound to be discarded.

“I’m giving you until the end of today,” Leanne continued. “If you don’t get a resolution from him, you contact me immediately. I’ll arrange for you to leave the country. This is your last way out.”

Millie drew a deep breath. Keeping a backup plan wasn’t wrong; in fact, it was just common sense.

Still, she believed Alexander would handle things for her.

After all, he was taking her to see someone today—someone who could actually solve her problems.

He wouldn’t have brought her along unless he was absolutely sure. Alexander was never one to take reckless risks.

“I know what I’m doing,” Millie said quietly. “You don’t need to worry.”

But then she pressed her lips together. “Still, you’ve already prepared my escape route. You’ve thought of everything.”

She inhaled slowly. “There’s no way I can get on a plane. How do you even arrange to leave the country by other means? Send me the address. If things go south with him, I’ll need somewhere to lay low.”

Leanne listened, and her mind settled. Millie’s words betrayed her real feelings—she wasn’t as confident as she claimed, nor as trusting of Alexander as she wanted to appear.

“You realize what you’re saying, don’t you?” Leanne said. “If you really trusted him, you wouldn’t be making these backup plans. Why take that risk? Just go to the address I’m giving you.”

“This isn’t the time to let your feelings cloud your judgment. This is serious—far from the games we played when we were younger.”

Millie gritted her teeth.

“I could clear my name and stay here, out in the open. Why should I run and become a fugitive when there are real ways to fight this? There’s a solution right in front of me. Why should I choose to run?”
