The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 50

Seeing her like this, his frown deepened.

"Call the family doctor to take care of it."

Danielle stood under the hot shower, trying to wash away a lingering sense of unease that clung to her chest.

As soon as she finished, she wrapped herself in a towel and opened the bathroom door, ready to change into her pajamas.

The moment the door swung open, she froze.

Alexander was there, sitting by the sofa with a cold expression, as if he'd been waiting. She had no idea when he'd come in.

At the sound of the door, his gaze snapped to her.

Steam billowed from the bathroom behind her, and she stood wrapped in nothing but a towel, bare shoulders glistening, her beauty softened by the haze.

His stare was almost predatory, and even the slight, ambiguous smile at the corner of his lips felt invasive.

Danielle snapped back to her senses, slammed the door shut, and blocked his view. "What are you doing here?"

Alexander's eyes didn't leave the door. "There's nothing I haven't seen before. We've had a child together, remember? Is this really necessary?"

His tone was unhurried, even teasing.

Danielle hated this version of him.

It had been like this before, too: a married couple, cold and distant most days, strangers under the same roof—yet whenever things turned intimate, the tension became unbearable, and every day felt like a tug-of-war.

Once, Danielle had longed for these heart-racing moments.

Now, she only felt disgust.

Her voice was icy. "Get out. I need to change."

Alexander didn't seem bothered. He stood and left. "Niki's hurt. Come out when you're dressed."

Danielle's heart clenched.

She hurried to get dressed and rushed out.

In the hallway, Alexander stood quietly, smoking. The haze blurred his expression, making him even harder to read.

"Where's Niki?"

He flicked his ash carelessly. "In our bedroom."

Knock, knock—

Two soft raps sounded at the door.

Danielle turned to see Alexander leaning against the doorframe, quietly watching her. "Step outside for a minute."

"Go ahead, Mommy. I'm tired—I'll go to sleep now."

Niki climbed into the big bed, pulling the covers up herself.

Danielle took a deep breath. She didn't want to talk to Alexander, but she knew they needed to clear the air.

She tucked Niki in and stepped out, closing the door behind her.

Alexander leaned against the hallway wall, his eyes fixed on Danielle.

She said quietly, "Once she's asleep, I'll take her to her own room."

"What do you want?"

He nodded, his tone unreadable. "Tomorrow, you're going to apologize to Millie."
