If his mom was really back, everything would feel so much easier.
"Raffy." Danielle looked at him, taking a steadying breath. "If you need something, go ask your new mom."
Raffy blinked at her, silent, his gaze still clouded with sleep.
He wanted to believe that since his mom had come home tonight, she'd be here tomorrow too. Her words might sound bitter, but in his heart he clung to the hope that this time, she was staying for good.
He didn't argue. Instead, he simply turned and went to bed.
Danielle let out a long sigh.
She glanced through the study and the bedroom, but Alexander was nowhere to be found.
Maybe he wasn't coming home tonight.
And here she was, like an idiot, coming all the way back just to talk to him.
Promises from Alexander—almost every single one had been broken.
Danielle lowered her eyes, exhaustion weighing down both her mind and her body. She turned and headed downstairs, ready to leave, when she heard the sound of a car engine in the driveway.
Alexander was back.
The front door swung open. Alexander stepped inside, tossing his car keys onto the entryway table without looking.
He shrugged off his suit jacket and strode into the house.
His cool gaze swept over Danielle, as impassive as ever. "Just got back?"
That detached tone—it never changed with him.
"Yeah. I wanted to talk to you about something."
Alexander flung his jacket onto the sofa and headed for the stairs. "Wait for me. I have an international conference call."
He paused as he passed Danielle. "Don't come up and interrupt me until I'm finished."
Now that he was close, Danielle could clearly smell a woman's perfume clinging to him.
Millie's scent.
His shirt and tie were loose, as if someone had tugged them open.
Danielle's eyes landed on his collar—there, bold as day, was a lipstick stain. Crimson, impossible to miss.
Sleep crept in, blurring her thoughts, until finally, she drifted off.
When Danielle opened her eyes again, she was in the main bedroom—their old marital suite.
Her heart skipped. She shot upright in bed.
She remembered waiting for him on the couch last night, but somewhere along the way she must've fallen asleep.
Now she woke up in the master bed.
Had Alexander carried her here? Or had she come on her own?
No time to dwell on it. Danielle threw aside the covers and got up, quickly searching for any sign of Alexander.
Julia, the housekeeper, spotted her and hurried over. "Mrs. Carter, the mister already left for work. He told me to make sure you stay home and wait for him if you want to talk."
"He's gone?"
Then what was the point of her coming back last night?
Danielle took a deep breath, pulled out her phone, and dialed Alexander's number—

Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
