The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 24

On the other end of the line, Raffy paused, a little stunned, then asked, "Mom, are you jealous because I've been spending time with Miss Millie?"

He didn't believe for a second that his mom would actually abandon him.

After all, she'd always loved him unconditionally—maybe even more than she loved Niki!

Danielle had no patience for reasoning with a child, especially when she was busy.

"If there's nothing else, I'm going to hang—"

"Beep... beep... beep..."

Before she could finish, Raffy hung up on her.

Danielle stared at her phone, speechless for a moment.

She shrugged off the interruption and returned to her work, focused on testing the tracks.

Raffy, meanwhile, tossed his phone aside with a huff of disdain.

Honestly! Mom's the one who stormed out first, and now she expects him to apologize? Not a chance.

He stomped up the carpeted stairs toward his room, only to run into Alexander coming down.

Alexander caught sight of his son, reached out to ruffle his hair. "What did your mom say to you?"

Raffy replied, "Nothing much. But I know for sure—she wants to come back, but she just can't admit it. She wants me to beg her, but I won't!"

Alexander regarded him thoughtfully. "Is that so?"

"Of course! Mom loves me way too much. Dad, do you really think she'd just leave me behind?"

Alexander nodded. "No, she wouldn't. She was just upset, that's all."

Hearing this, Raffy felt reassured. He was now convinced that Mom was just throwing a tantrum—she'd be back in a few days.

And when she did, he'd finally get to eat her cooking again.

And with that, he hung up, not giving her a chance to reply.

Danielle arrived at the preschool a little late.

Niki was already waiting patiently, and as soon as she spotted Danielle, she ran over and threw her arms around her. "Mommy!"

"Mom, what took you so long?" Raffy's face was full of annoyance as he climbed into the back seat. "Dad said you were coming for me, so I waited forever. Miss Millie always waits for me by the door, you know."

"And why did you bring this old car? The other kids are going to laugh at me."

He grumbled, then barked out his next demand: "Hurry up and take me to the racetrack. I promised Miss Millie I'd cheer her on, and I don't want to miss her race just because you were late."

"Raffy, you can't talk to Mom like that." Niki scolded, frowning. "That's really rude."

"Well, she's the one who made us late!" Raffy snapped back, growing more impatient. "Mom, let's go already! Don't make me late again!"

Danielle turned to look at Raffy, her voice cool and steady. "Rafferty, I never agreed to pick you up today. Get out of my car."
