Alexander answered the phone, listening quietly to whatever was being said on the other end. He glanced at Danielle's slender figure as she walked away. "Alright, understood," he replied curtly.
Once the call ended, he strode after her, signaling to the driver waiting outside.
He turned to Danielle, his expression unmoved. "Sorry, something's come up. I'll have the driver take you home."
Danielle let out a bitter, mocking smile.
She'd known all along: whenever Millie needed anything, Alexander would drop everything and rush to her side, no matter what promises he'd made to Danielle.
Not that she'd ever planned to accept his offer anyway.
—
After Danielle left, Alexander returned to the living room.
He stared at the shattered pieces on the floor, his face impassive, a cold tension radiating from him.
Raffy stood to the side, fidgeting nervously, casting timid glances at his father.
"Did you break it?"
Raffy hid his hands behind his back, lowering his eyes. "No… I just wanted to give it to her, but I dropped it by accident."
"She couldn't catch the figure herself—if it broke, how's that my fault?"
Alexander's eyes flicked coolly to Julia. "Take him to the study. He's grounded—no going out except for school, no snacks, no toys."
"He can come out when he's thought about what he's done."
Raffy's mouth fell open, and he burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably.
"I want my mom! I want Millie! You're all so mean!"
Alexander ignored his cries and headed straight for the study.
Julia could only do as she was told, leading Raffy into the study.
She understood Mr. Davidson's intentions—he was raising his son to be the future heir of the Davidson family. If Raffy kept throwing tantrums, breaking things, and lying, those were habits that needed correcting.
As for Mrs. Davidson…
Julia had never seen her employer show the slightest concern for his wife. Tonight, Mrs. Davidson was clearly ill, burning with fever, and yet when she wanted to leave, he hadn't stopped her.
Julia sighed quietly. Ever since Mrs. Davidson left, Raffy had grown more and more unruly, all his bad habits coming out for everyone to see.
—
Raffy managed just one day locked in the study before he broke down, finally giving up his stubborn defiance.
That night, she was haunted by a nightmare—memories of her previous life, the moment when Niki slipped away in the hospital, beyond saving.
She woke drenched in cold sweat, her whole body shaking.
The empty darkness of her room pressed in. Heart pounding with fear, she threw back the covers and went to Niki's room. Watching her daughter sleep peacefully, her anxiety finally eased.
She hugged Niki tightly, silent tears streaming down her face.
She was terrified this second chance wasn't real—that she'd merely dreamed of coming back, and that if she woke up again, Niki would still be gone…
—
Danielle's fever lasted for two days straight, forcing her to take time off work.
During that time, Vivian looked after Niki.
Kirsten stopped by to check on Danielle.
Frowning, Kirsten surveyed her. "You were fine at your grandmother's memorial—how did you end up like this?"
Danielle managed a faint smile. "How's the project going? Are we ahead of schedule?"
Kirsten threw her hands up in exasperation. "I'm here worrying about your health, and you want to talk business?"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell
Where is Chapter 545 - 554? I thought there'll be 9-10 chapters per update....
I knew it! He’s in love with her but he thinks she loves his brother!...
Oh poor Bianca... regrets, regrets :)...
This is it! Revenge. Way to go Dani....
OMG! Chapters 451-462 had me on edge. I wish we could also read Alexander's POV. I swear I want to punch him and Millie. This story is kind of a push and pull. The main character will win some, then lose some. Hope the writer gives Danielle a big win....
I hope not a lot of important dialogues get cut out, especially between Danielle and Alexander. But I can't complain, really. Thank you again for the updates....
I'm already in chapter 432 ATM and I have the impression that the story is so slow. Daniele remains in the dark, her reputation is low and inexistent, her accomplishment and professional abilities are stiĺl hidden, her enemies are taking the joy in humiliatihg her. No evolution in the plot? Please don't stay long in this, readers might lose interest in the long run....
Please update...
The last chapter was too short. More pls. Thank you....
Lovin' this. More more pls!...
