Ryan seemed to disappear from the public eye over the next few days. Anderson Corporation and the Anderson Family also kept a low profile.
However, rumors about Neil suddenly started to spread. Some said that he was responsible for Anderson Corporation’s downfall.
Everyone in Ryoln City’s upper-class society knew about Ryan and Neil’s long friendship. When they learned about Neil’s actions against Anderson Corporation, they began gossiping about it.
“I didn’t expect Mr. Remus to be like that. He seems to value profit, even if it means betraying his friend!”
“Well, businessmen care about money. What’s friendship compared to money? Money is the most important thing!”
“If I were Ryan, I’d probably resent Neil. He pretended to be a good friend but betrayed him in secret.”
The rumors reached Neil, and there was even talk about it in Remus Corporation.
When Curtis caught wind of this, he fired the employees who spoke ill of Neil. No one in the company dared to discuss it anymore.
“Mr. Remus, the rumors are getting out of hand. Should we release a statement to clarify things?”
Neil remained indifferent. “What’s there to clarify? It’s true that I dealt with Anderson Corporation.”
Curtis frowned. “But you went after it because Mr. Anderson prompted your divorce with Miss Pond. You’ve never betrayed him!”
Neil looked at him and coldly asked, “Guess who’s spreading these rumors behind the scenes?”
Curtis was momentarily stunned before he cautiously replied, “Is it Mr. Anderson?”
“Bingo! These rumors will make others sympathize with him, and that’s good for Anderson Corporation.”
Curtis got angry the moment he heard this. “That’s too much. He’s clearly using your current reputation to secure deals with other partners.”
Ryan was playing the victim card to gain sympathy from potential business partners and make negotiations easier.
Neil stayed calm. “Don’t worry about it. If he manages to use this opportunity to make a comeback, it’ll show that he’s capable.”
Those potential business partners were not fools. Even if they felt sorry for Ryan, they would turn away the moment Anderson Corporation could not benefit them. Everyone prioritized their own interests after all.
“Do you need something, Mr. Anderson?”
His dejected voice soon came through. “Silvia, do you hate me now?”
Following a brief silence, Ryan said with resignation, “I wonder if we’ll have a chance to meet in the future.”
“What do you mean?”
Silvia pursed her lips and said, “I wish you success, Mr. Anderson.”
He laughed bitterly. “Thank you, and I’m sorry for what I did. I hope you can forgive me.”
