Back in the car, Silvia asked Neil, “Did you and Mr. Anderson have a falling out?”
“Do you think I can talk calmly with a man who covets you?! Don’t ever get in touch with him again!” he said coldly.
Silvia shook her head because of his jealousy. “Fine.”
“Were you trying to make me mad by getting together with him a while back?”
“No. He saved me when I was abroad. He said I could repay him by pretending to be his girlfriend for a month.”
Her explanation made Neil frown and say, “After you returned from abroad, I gave up many large orders to Anderson Corporation just to repay him on your behalf. You don’t owe him anything from now on!”
“Got it.”
Neil then started the car. “I’ll take you to dinner.”
After they wasted more than two hours there, it was a little over 5 p.m. Hence, it was almost dinnertime.
He drove her to a private restaurant, and they bumped into Jane at the door.
Jane’s eyes shone with envy when she caught sight of Silvia behind Neil. However, she dared not approach him.
After all, Neil had broken up with her just because she had said a few harsh words to Silvia at the washroom’s entrance. Besides, he even canceled a few collaborations with Leighton Corporation. Hence, Jane’s affection for him had been replaced with fear.
Neil ignored her and led Silvia into the restaurant. The waiter had prepared a private room for them long ago. After they sat down, Silvia faked a smile as she looked at Neil.
“You saw your ex-girlfriend at the door just now. Why didn’t you greet her?”
Neil could tell that she was trying to get even with him.
“I never dated her. The president of Leighton Corporation introduced her to me, and I purposely used her to drive you mad. There’s nothing between me and her!”
Silvia raised her brows in surprise. “I didn’t even say anything. Why are you explaining so much? Are you guilty?”
“I was afraid that you’d misunderstand.” Neil looked sincere.
Annoyed, Jane finally picked it up and spoke impatiently, “Are you out of your mind? You keep calling me even though I’ve hung up on you several times. You’re insane!”
She prepared to hang up once she was done yelling, but she heard a menacing voice.
“Jane, don’t you want to get back at Neil for the way he treated you?”
She was briefly stunned. Then, she kept her guard up and asked, “Who are you?! Why are you telling me this?”
“Haha! I’m someone who can help you get back at him.”
“Why should I trust you?”
“Come to Riverbank Cafe at 8 p.m. tonight if you still have doubts.”
After that, the caller hung up.
When Jane tried calling back, no one picked up.
