“Just ignore it.”
“What if it’s an emergency!”
Silvia grabbed the cell phone from the nightstand and handed it to him. Her voice was husky from their activities that evening.
“A couple of minutes won’t matter.”
Neil took the cell phone, but his eyes were dark with desire.
“I’ll let you know later if I need those couple of minutes or not.”
He got out of bed and answered it. After he heard what the caller said, his face fell.
He turned to Silvia once he hung up. “Silvia, something urgent has come up at the company, so I’m going to take care of it. Wait for me to get back!”
Silvia slowly sat up. She hugged the covers as she looked at him. “Okay.”
Seeing her in such a state, Neil could not help but grab the back of her head and kiss her deeply. Then, he put on his clothes and left.
Neil was gone all night. He only returned after Silvia got up and went downstairs the next morning. His under eyes were dark, and it looked like he had not slept at all.
“Was it a serious issue?” she asked.
Neil shook his head. “It’s fine. I’ve taken care of it.”
“Well, that’s good. You were up all night, weren’t you? Get some rest.”
“Okay. Call me if anything happens.”
“Okay.”
It was Sunday, so the housekeeper was not coming over to cook.
After Neil returned to the bedroom. Silvia pondered for a while. In the end, she decided to make a simple broth and a few sides for lunch.
He did not sleep all night, so some broth at noon would be most appropriate.
Silvia then proceeded to prepare the broth. Just as she was about to call him for lunch, he hurried downstairs.
After he gave his orders, Neil added, “By the way, haven’t the champagne roses that I asked you to airlift arrived yet?”
Now that things in Remus Corporation had calmed down, he was ready to find a time to propose to Silvia.
Curtis quickly said, “It rained heavily over in Bulgaria not long ago, so many of the champagne-colored roses ended up damaged. It will take a few days before they can ship new ones over.”
Neil nodded. “Okay. Get them here as soon as possible. How about the customized diamond ring that we ordered?”
“It’s also arriving in a few days. I’ll leave it on your desk when the time comes.”
“Okay. Get back to work.”
After Curtis left, Neil picked up the document again. His face was gloomy.
When she received Noelle’s call, Silvia was scooping the broth out of the pot so that she could chill it in the refrigerator.
“Sil, what are you doing? I’d like to see that patient’s medical report. Do you have time to visit the hospital with me?”
