“Yeah. What are you suspicious of? Does it really matter when I met him?”
After a brief silence, Neil lowered his head and said, “From tomorrow, don’t let him deliver your medicine. I’ll get the prescription from him and arrange for someone else to bring it to you every day.”
Silvia wanted to ask what the difference was.
However, she saw how serious he was, so she nodded and said, “Fine. Let’s do it your way.”
After they ate and watched a movie, they returned to their rooms to rest.
Close to noon the next day, Silvia received a call from Winston.
“Silvia, Neil is really watching out for you. He was waiting at my clinic this morning before it even opened. He told me not to bother making your medicine anymore. He asked for the prescription and said he would have someone else prepare it.”
Hearing Winston’s teasing tone, Silvia cocked an eyebrow in annoyance. “Did you really give him the prescription that easily?”
“Of course not. My prescriptions are expensive, but since he’s your boyfriend, I cut him a deal. I only charged him two million dollars. Pretty good, right?”
Silvia gritted her teeth in anger. How was that a good deal when it was so expensive?!
“Winston, your talent for scamming others is as great as ever!”
“You flatter me. By the way, have you decided on what to do with Chris? If the surgery isn’t conducted soon, it could seriously put his life at risk.”
Sensing the gravity in Winston’s tone, Silvia bit her lip and appeared hesitant.
“Winston, he’s my friend.”
“But he’s also a patient.”
Kathrine did not know how to comfort him, so she just silently stayed by his side.
At the same time, she became increasingly upset with Silvia. If Chris had not saved her, he would not have fainted and gotten hit by the chandelier. Then, he would not have to face death at such a young age.
Katherine looked frustrated as she said to Chris, “Why don’t you consider the surgery? There’s still a ten-percent chance of success. If you don’t go through with it, you’ll just be waiting to die.”
Chris turned to her with indifference and said, “Ten percent is basically the same as having no chance of success.”
Since he was going to die anyway, he wanted to choose a less painful way. He did not want to die on an operating table.
Katherine ran her hand through her hair. “If you’re not willing to undergo surgery, at least tell Silvia that you’re in this situation because you saved her. Otherwise, she won’t feel any guilt even if you die!”
Chris wore a bitter smile. “I should have been carried away by the flood in Ten Miles Village. I’m alive because she saved me. Now, I’m just reliving that moment in the village. I’ve lived a bit longer, so I don’t see it as a loss.”
