Chapter 338
Chapter 338
“Something else?” Sana frowned. Wesley was acting clingy all of a sudden, completely different from before.
Wesley’s voice softened. “No, I just wanted to ask if you’re free tonight.”
“I’m not.” Sana’s answer came without hesitation. She hung up immediately.
Wesley stared at his phone, the dead line leaving him with an uncomfortable knot in his chest.
He’d thought that with time, Sana would come around. Instead, she was avoiding him more than ever. He couldn’t figure out the reason.
For the first time, Wesley couldn’t read a woman’s mind. Sana’s endless avoidance made Wesley’s mind race with doubts.
‘Did she really mean it when she said she liked me?‘ Wesley wondered. ‘Or was it just physical attraction? Now that she’s got what she wanted, maybe I’m nothing to her anymore.”
The more he thought about it, the darker his expression became.
“Fine,” Wesley sneered. So he’d been used and tossed aside.
Sana had no idea what Wesley was thinking, but even if she did, she’d probably shrug and say, “Yeah, pretty much.”
There was no way she’d bare her soul and explain her feelings. She’d never live down the embarrassment.
“What’s got you so spaced out?” Jessica stepped off the elevator to find Sana frozen at her desk, lost in thought. She tapped Sana’s shoulder.
“Jessica! You’re here. Are you okay?” Sana snapped back to attention but didn’t answer Jessica’s greeting.
“I’m fine. Why are you asking all of a sudden?” Jessica found this strange. Did I look like something was wrong?‘
“Oh, nothing really. You’ve been coming in late and leaving early lately, and everyone’s worried about you.” Sana wasn’t about to tell the truth. She wasn’t stupid. She made up an excuse on the spot.
“Sorry. My personal stuff has been slowing everyone down recently‘ Jessica’s eyes filled with guilt at these words.
“No, no, don’t think like that, Jessi. We’re all just worried about you.” Sana quickly tried to explain.
They walked and talked, soon reaching Jessica’s office. Sana closed the door behind them and asked, “Jessica, has Madeline been bothering you lately?”
Jessica’s hand froze around her pen.
Sana noticed immediately, and anger flared up inside her. “She came again, didn’t she? I’m going to find her right now!”
She knew it was all Madeline’s fault!
“Stop!” Jessica called out to Sana, who had already turned around in fury.
“Don’t stop me, Jessi. This time I will teach her a lesson she won’t forget!” Sana said, seething with anger.
Jessica watched her quietly. “How exactly do you plan to teach her a lesson? Did you forget she’s pregnant too? If something happens and hurts the baby, honestly, I might not be able to protect you.”
Jessica wanted to deal with Madeline herself. But she had to be careful not to cause bigger problems.
“So we’re just letting this slide?” Sana’s anger flared.

Chapter 338
Jessica had already started flipping through files. “Her parents will handle her. Let them tear each other apart. Stay out of everything else.
She didn’t want to drag anyone else into this mess.
Whatever happened in the end was her burden, even if it turned out badly.
Sana could see Jessica didn’t want her involved, so she felt frustrated.
Back at her desk, Sana mindlessly scrolled through Instagram and stumbled across Wesley’s latest food photo.
The food wasn’t what caught her attention. It was the hand in the shot–Wesley’s long fingers and subtle veins showing as he held the fruit. The whole image was unexpectedly captivating.
Sana swallowed hard without thinking, her finger hovering over the like button. She caught herself just in time.
‘What am I doing?‘ she thought. ‘I already decided to cut ties with Wesley! It’s just a photo of his hand, and I almost fell for it again. Sana, get it togethert
She slapped her cheeks lightly as she scolded herself. Once calm, she turned off her phone and buried herself in work.
Meanwhile, Wesley watched his likes and comments pile up, but his expression grew darker by the minute.
He posted almost an hour ago, and Sana hadn’t seen it yet.
Before, whenever he posted on Instagram, she’d respond instantly.
Now she was playing games. Wesley’s mood soured, but he kept posting anyway.
Before lunch, he uploaded another photo of his meal.
This time, even Jessica liked it, but still nothing from Sana.
Wesley started wondering if she’d blocked him.
When his evening post failed to get Sana’s attention, Wesley deleted all his Instagram posts and plotted his next move.
Jessica didn’t know about all the behind–the–scenes drama. When work ended, she went straight home. Maybe it was because she’d talked things through with Wesley, but she felt noticeably calmer today.
When dinner time came and Brian and Jacob knocked on her door, she could handle it without getting worked up.
“What do you want?” Jessica asked. Her eyes automatically drifted to whatever Jacob was holding. ‘Is that a drawing pad?‘
“Jessi, Jake has something to tell you. Can we come in and sit for a bit?” Brian held a dinner plate and said gently.
Jessica glanced at the plate in his hands, then at Jacob’s hopeful face. After a few seconds of silence, she stepped aside.
