Madeline jumped and spun around, meeting Jessica’s ice cold stare.
“Having fun following me around?” Jessica’s voice was glacial.
Madeline snapped back to reality and instinctively stepped back, putting distance between them. “Don’t you dare accuse me of that. I wasn’t following you!”
“Right.” Jessica let out a mocking laugh and opened her phone, showing the video she’d just recorded.
The footage clearly showed Madeline entering the store and looking around frantically.
“That doesn’t look like shopping to me.” Jessica’s mocking tone made Madeline’s face darken with anger.
She hadn’t expected Jessica to notice her so early and put on this whole act, waiting for her to slip up.
But if Jessica thought this little trick would scare her off, she was dead wrong. Madeline dug her nails into her palm, using the pain to calm herself down quickly.
Madeline said, “Fine. So what if I followed you? I only did it because you won’t answer my messages, Jessi. I couldn’t find anyone else to ask, and I’m worried about the baby. I had to come find you.”
Madeline tried to justify herself. “But then I saw you driving off right when I got there, so I had to follow. It’s not that big a deal.”
Jessica sneered, “So now it’s my fault?”
Madeline smiled. “I never said that. Don’t overthink it, Jessi. But since you’re here, could you take a look at this pregnancy report?”
She continued, “My parents came asking for money again a few days ago, but I’m really tight on cash right now, so I said no. My dad got so mad he shoved me hard, and I started bleeding right there on the spot.”
Her eyes drifted meaningfully toward Jessica’s belly.
Jessica felt a chill run down her spine and instinctively moved her hands to protect her stomach. She asked, “Why are you telling me this?”
you–happy family, loving parents, Brian and Jacob Madeline said, “Just reminding you of the good work you’ve done, Jessica. Sometimes I really env both wrapped around your finger. You have everything, but you still won’t let go of the smallest things.
“You won’t be satisfied until you’ve destroyed anyone who gets in your way. But have you ever thought about it? Even a cornered rabbit will bite.” Madeline suddenly leaned closer to Jessica, reaching out to touch her belly.
Jessica’s hand flew up in reflex, slapping Madeline’s hand away.
Madeline winced and pulled back, putting on an innocent face. “What are you doing, Jessi? I just wanted to let the baby say hi to his big brothers and sisters. Why are you overreacting?”
“Ugh-” Jessica covered her mouth, gagging in disgust.
Madeline’s face turned dark instantly. “Jessica, what’s that supposed to mean?!”
She thought angrily, ‘How dare she find me disgusting?‘
Jessica barely had time to spare her a glance. She covered her mouth, dry heaving for what felt like forever before the nausea finally passed.
“Could I get some warm water, please? Thank you.” Jessica politely addressed the sales associate nearby, then turned to face Madeline’s darkened expression.

Jessica said, “I thought I made it clear that my child has absolutely nothing to do with you or your kid. If you can’t remember that rd be tuppyt you back home to your parents.”
Madeline could target her all she wanted, make her sick to her stomach that was one thing. But the moment she dared to involve her child, that wa crossing a line that meant war
Instead of getting angry at Jessica’s threat, Madeline’s smile only grew brighter. “Now Jessi, that’s not quite right, is it? Even if you and Brian are divorced, our children will always share blood!”
She added, “You can deny it all you want now, but once my baby is born, Brian will definitely make sure they get along well together. Don’t you think so, Jessi?”
Jessica dug her nails so deep into her palms she nearly drew blood, barely managing to keep herself from losing it completely.
The rage and self–disgust inside her had reached a breaking point.
“Go away!” Jessica forced the word through clenched teeth.
If this kept up, Jessica couldn’t guarantee what she might do next.
Madeline watched Jessica’s tightly clenched fists, satisfaction flooding through her.
“Fine, since you’re really angry, I’ll leave. But I’m leaving this pregnancy test report for you.” Madeline shoved the forged report into Jessica’s arms and turned to go.
Jessica stared at the glaring words “Pregnancy Test Report” and felt the world spinning around her.
“Ma’am, are you okay?” The sales assistant quickly steadied her.
At the doorway, Madeline heard the commotion behind her, pure satisfaction gleaming in her eyes. Just as she was considering turning back to twist the knife a little deeper, a strong hand grabbed her arm and yanked her outside.
Madeline let out a yell.
Sana’s merciless slap cut off Madeline’s scream before it fully escaped.
“You bitch, are you harassing Jessi again?!” Sana was furious.
She never expected that in the short time she’d gone to put something away, Madeline would sidle up to Jessi.
“How dare you hit me?!” Madeline clutched her swollen, red cheek and stared at her in disbelief.
Sana snorted, “Yeah, I hit you. Got a problem with that? I’ll call Brian right now and ask him face–to–face whether you deserve it or not!” She pulled out her phone and started dialing.
Madeline’s face went pale. She lunged forward, grabbing Sana’s hand. “I was wrong, don’t call! Jessica wouldn’t want Brian to know about this.”
Sana shielded her phone and shook off Madeline’s grip. “If you know you’re wrong, then get lost!”
