They Want Me Back When It's Too Late (Jessica and Brian) novel Chapter 340

Chapter 340

Yes, Ms. Grant. Are you having a breakdown?Wesley could tell from her unusual tone and the faint sounds of crying over the phone that something w wrong.

Jessica nodded through her tears. Yes, Dr. Finch, let’s meet. I can’t control it anymore. She sobbed into her hands.

She pressed her palms against her eyes, but the tears wouldn’t stop. Her heart felt like it was breaking.

Wesley agreed immediately. Okay, do you want to come here, or should I go to your place?

I’ll come to you. Are you still in the clinic?Jessica didn’t hesitate.

Yes, but I’m working late today. You’re too upset right now. Don’t drive yourself.Wesley’s voice was gentle but firm. He was worried she might have an accident. He would have offered to pick her up if he thought she’d agree.

I know, I know. I’ll take a rideshare. Give me thirty minutes tops. Sorry for the trouble.Jessica hung up quickly and opened her app.

After booking the ride, she grabbed a coat, threw it over her pajamas, and rushed out the door.

The loud door crash made Brian look up sharply from his desk next door. He wondered, Why was Jessica leaving so late?

Brian felt a surge of worry and hurried to the door. When he opened it, he saw Jessica rushing into the elevator, wearing only a nightgown under her

coat.

He waited for the elevator doors to close, then quickly pressed the button for another elevator and followed her downstairs.

He tailed her, watching her enter a car at the curb. Brian immediately signaled to his bodyguard waiting nearby, who pulled up in another vehicle so they

could follow.

In the taxi, Jessica leaned back against the seat and cried silently, Cold tears soaked her temples, making her look even more disheveled.

Wesley called during the ride to tell her he was waiting at the building entrance.

Jessica thanked him in a hoarse voice and hung up.

Miss, are you okay? The driver was concerned and handed her tissues when they stopped at a red light.

Thank you, I’m fine.” Jessica tried to maintain her composure, accepting the tissues gratefully and wiping her face clean. She couldn’t let Wesley see her

like this.

Soon they reached their destination.

When the car stopped, Jessica pushed open the door and rushed toward Wesley, who was waiting at the building entrance.

Wesley frowned when he saw Jessica in her nightgown and slippers. Ms. Grant, there was no need to rush like this.

Jessica paused, following his gaze down to her slippers. Only then did she realize she had left the house wearing slippers.

Her face flushed with embarrassment. How embarrassing. She quietly pulled her feet back, trying to hide them.

Seeing her distress, Wesley’s voice softened with concern. It’s okay. Let’s head to the coffee shop next door to talk. The clinic staff has gone home anyway, so let’s avoid staying here.

He handed Tres, nestled in his arms, to Jessica. Could you hold him for a moment, Ms. Grant? I need to reply to a message.
