A few men and women were seated in the private room. They were around my age, but their demeanor gave off an air of nobility and wealth.

With just one glance, I could tell that they were all children of influential families here in Govendale, and not just any ordinary affluent families.

“Oh, Quinn. Come in!” The group burst into smiles the moment we entered.

A strikingly beautiful woman walked up to Quinn and gave her a hug. “It’s been ages since you came back and hung out, Quinn. You’ve totally forgotten about us, haven’t you?”

She giggled playfully, a trace of accusation in her tone.

“How could I? I would never forget about you guys wherever I go.” Quinn smiled. Then, she turned to introduce me. “Let me introduce someone. This is my friend, Max Wexler.”

At that, several pairs of eyes turned toward me. Their gazes were a mix of surprise and intrigue. “Oh, Quinn, is this your boyfriend? He’s so good–looking!” One of the women immediately leaned in close and gave me a once–over.

“He is handsome, but I don’t recall hearing the name Max Wexler,” she muttered somewhat puzzledly, as if she’d gone through every eligible bachelor in Govendale and couldn’t place me.

“He’s not my boyfriend. Didn’t I say? He’s just a friend.” Quinn giggled and went on to introduce everyone.

“This gorgeous here’s Xenia Lowell, followed by Quade Wallace, Maeve Zimmerman, Blake Upton, Skylar Snow, and Cullen Zenn.”

As she spoke, I tried to put faces to names, but the name Cullen Zenn caught my attention.

Caleb had told me Camille was with a Zenn heir. I wasn’t certain if this was the particular person, but there was no doubt he belonged to the Zenn family.

I greeted everyone with a smile and sat down beside Quinn. She made small talk with the group while I chimed in occasionally.

She hadn’t mentioned anything about the project yet, but I wasn’t in a hurry. Clearly, she v waiting for the right moment.

That was when she suddenly turned to Cullen and said, “Oh, Cullen, I heard Centrise Group handed the Brinestone logistics project to Layton Group. Do you know anything about that?”
