Still Your Dog? No, I'm Gone novel Chapter 28

Chapter 28

I couldn’t help but feel frustrated. Sophia was right in front of me, but I

Sophia looked at me, a little embarrassed. Her cheeks were still flushed, whether from the alcohol or shyness, I couldn’t tell. Wrapped in nothing but a towel, her figure was

breathtaking. Every curve radiated an irresistible allure.

She stepped closer and said softly, Just go

I looked at her, a little caught off guard.

Last time, she told me not to work my ass off for Camille. So why was she suddenly encouraging me now?

I looked at her, puzzled.

Sophia took the chance to explain, There are only ten days left. I get the challenges you’re dealing with, and I admire how thoughtful and strategic you are.

Those words hit deeper than I expected. She really understood me. It was clear she’d taken the

time to learn who I was.

I’d never been the type to worry about what people think. I’d always known what mattered to me, and it was never about ego or appearances. That stuff just never mattered.

But I didn’t know why I cared what she thought. I’d never felt that before.

Thank you-I said.

Don’t thank me,Sophia cut me off.

I smiled and let it go. There was no need to say more.

She walked me to the door, then said meekly, And, uhtonightDon’t think about it when you go home tonight.

I’m not usually like that. You must’ve slipped something in my drink or something.

She gave me a shy glare, then quickly shut the door.

I couldn’t help but laugh. How could I not savor that moment in

my

head?

I got in the car and drove to the bar, still fuming. From a distance, I spotted Camille waiting by the curb. She was surrounded by several men and women.

As soon as she saw me pull up, she said proudly, See? My lapdog still comes when I call.

I nearly floored it and drove off right then.

Unbelievable! She was still running her mouth like she owned the world. She was out of her

damn mind.

But before I could do anything, she climbed into the car, gave me a smug look, and snapped, What are you staring at? Take me back to the hotel.

I didn’t say a word. I just hit the gas and drove her there.

She snorted and ordered, Help me upstairs. You expect me to walk up there by myself?

This bitch really knew how to get under my skin.

Camille, don’t you think you’re being ridiculous

I spoke coldly, but she laughed it off.

Not at all. In fact, I think this is way more fun,she said.

Back when you were my secretary, you took orders from me. Now, you’re the CEO and I’m your deputy, yet you’re still doing what I say. Funny how that works, huh?

She looked at me with mocking amusement. Her eyes were full of contempt, like she had me completely wrapped around her finger.

Fine,I said. Then I’ll play along for ten more days.
