I couldn’t understand why Camille acted the way she did tonight, but I could vaguely guess that she must have wanted to humiliate me in another way.
The way she paid me to sleep with her… If I were to take the money and yield, I’d become a joke for her entire lifetime. There wouldn’t be a shred of dignity left in me!
Camille was truly vicious and clever. She knew exactly what would disgust me the most.
After leaving the bar, I headed to the hospital. Looking at
the comatose Tory finally calmed my heart down. All the grievances and anger I’d felt would vanish whenever I saw her.
All I hoped for was that she would wake up soon
The next day, I went to work as usual. There were only 18 days left until it was all over.
I started curiously wondering how Camille would humiliate me today.
She arrived around noon in heavy makeup and high heels. Surprisingly, Kieran came with her.
I was utterly speechless. Benson had made it clear that something was terribly wrong with Kieran’s contract and that Camille was set up. Did she still not understand?
I couldn’t believe how dumb she was.
Kieran’s expression darkened when he saw me, and his eyes were full of cold hostility. It was clear that he blamed me for the failed contract, but I couldn’t care less.
The Zanes were on the brink of bankruptcy, and Kieran was a useless leech who lived off women. What was there to be afraid of?
“Well, look who it is. Muttface working in the hallway, huh?” Kieran strolled over with a mocking smile.
“Why bother talking to him? He’s just a damn mutt!” Camille spat before dragging Kieran into
her office.
To me, that was a relief. At least I didn’t have to hear them bicker and whine.
Unfortunately, I was summoned into Camille’s office not long after.
“My floor’s dirty. Clean it,” she said as she poured a cup of coffee onto the floor.
Kieran burst out laughing before following suit.
I frowned but grabbed a mop and cleaned it up regardless.
“Camille, your lapdog’s damn obedient, huh? How is he not getting mad?” Kieran tau he eyed me provocatively.

I didn’t bother to spare him a glance.

“Hmph. He’s nothing more than a lapdog for the Laytons, and he’d never dare to bare his teeth at me.”
After Camille said that, she poured another glass of water onto the floor. “Here!”
I looked up at her and noticed a playful glint in her eyes, but I felt utterly speechless. Was that all she could come up with?
“What a waste of talent, Mr. Wexler. With skills like this, you’d make a decent living as a janitor.” Kieran jeered at me from the sidelines.
I stayed silent while Camille’s expression grew darker when she saw me remain unfazed. I could tell that she wanted to provoke me and see me lose my temper, just to satisfy her twisted thrill. Nothing could get more pathetic than that.
Fine. I’d just play along with her childish games.
