Chapter 104
Look at me, Lyss. When will you start sharing your problems with me? Why are you always afraid to tell me anything? Am I not a good brother in your eyes?”
I turned my attention back to Alaric. He looked angrier now, and hurt. I walked to him and hugged him, trying to calm him
down.
“Ric, I’m sorry. Please don’t be angry. I know you love me and care about me. I love you too. That’s why I don’t want to drag you into my troubles.”
When I saw he wasn’t hugging me back, I ended the embrace. I looked at him, seeing the anger in his expression. Usually, he was a gentle Alpha, willing to do anything to protect his sister, but when angry, everything became unpredictable. His inner wolf wouldn’t let him stay rational. After all, he had pure Alpha bloodline.
“Fine, I’ll tell you the truth. I didn’t tell you Lyra was with Tristan because I thought you would impulsively go hurt him.”
He looked at me and asked, “Do you still love that man?”
I was stunned by his question. Why would he ask that? Couldn’t he tell I hated Tristan?
“What? No, Ric, of course not.”
“Then why do you care if I hurt him?”
I tried to clarify his misunderstanding, explaining, “As an Alpha, you can’t harm another Alpha who attended your event. I didn’t want you to do something that might disrupt the Moon Ring Council’s order.”
Alaric sighed and sat on his large bed. I sat beside him, feeling his emotions gradually calming.
“Ric, I’m fine. Lyra wasn’t hurt. So don’t worry.”
Alaric rubbed his forehead as if all this gave him a terrible headache. “Do you know what you’ve done? That man won’t let this go. Tristan Wolfbane never gives up on what he wants.”
“But he believed my lie. Today, Kieran told me about the spell the Moon Shadow Messenger placed. It means Tristan will never recognize the twins, never know the truth.”
Alaric turned to look at me. “That guy can’t keep any secrets from you.”
He meant Kieran. If Kieran hadn’t told me, I would never have known about the spell protecting my children.
“Stop blaming him, Ric. We’re his family. When you blame him, he feels bad. Aren’t you best friends?”
“I’m glad you care about him.”
I looked away, feeling slightly uncomfortable. “It’s not like that. He’s a good friend, a good Beta.”
“What you told Tristan, he’ll use it against you, Lysandra. He’ll tell other Alphas and destroy your image in werewolf society. You, a Ravencroft, claiming to have had a one–night stand with a nobody? Do you know what that means?”
Hearing this, I felt a surge of panic. Tristan might indeed do that. I couldn’t trust that cold–blooded Alpha. But if he did,

how would it affect my children and their standing in werewolf society?
“What should I do now, Ric?”
He placed his hand on my head, his voice softening. “Take a step forward in life. You and your children need a man who can give all three of you protection, your own mate.”
