“Where are you going? my mother asked..
“The garden,” he said.
I rose to my feet. “I can show you around. There are some interesting places there,”
No thanks, Orion said flatly. “We’ll go by ourselves. He pulled Lyra away quickly.
Lyra glanced back at me as they left, seeming like she wanted to say something, but ultimately followed her brother without protest.
My mother smiled at Orion’s response. I muttered under my breath about how the boy was “so full of himself.”
“Just like you, my father commented.
I turned to him, genuinely surprised. “Am I full of myself?”
He nodded, and my mother laughed. “Your karma has arrived, Tristan,” my father joked. “Your son is exactly like you. He’ll avenge me.”
I inwardly scoffed at the comparison. I had always been a dutiful son, despite our disagreements.
My father’s expression turned serious. “Those children are very young. They need their mother.
“They don’t need her,” I said, looking away.
“Tristan, now that you have children together, perhaps this is a reason for reconciliation. Why don’t you-”
The door burst open before he could finish, and Selene rushed in, her face flushed with emotion.
“Tristan, what are people telling me?” she demanded, her voice high and strained. “You have children? How is that possible? Who are they?”
She grabbed my arm, her fingers digging into my sleeve. I met her gaze steadily.
“You heard correctly. They are my kids.”
I understood her reaction. She loved me, and this news must have come as a shock.
“How can you be so sure they’re yours?” she asked, her voice trembling. “Did you do a DNA test?”
The question triggered a memory of Lysandra’s deception with the previous DNA test. I made a mental note to track down that doctor and make him pay.
“I don’t need to,” I replied confidently. “I can feel it. My wolf can smell it.”
Selene stepped back, looking dazed. “Is… is Lysandra trying to trap you again?”
I frowned. “How did you know Lysandra is their mother?”
‘I–I believe you would never betray me,” she stammered. “Th–they must be from your first marriage.”
For a moment, I almost suspected Selene knew more than she was letting on, but I quickly dismissed the thought. She was innocent in all this. It was Lysandra who had taught me to distrust everyone.
My mother instructed a servant to bring Selene some water. After taking a sip, Selene looked up at me imploringly.

Chapter 186
Can I see the children?” she asked.
No,” I said firmly. “They don’t want to see anyone.”
At least let her look at them, my mother suggested.
I reluctantly agreed. A servant escorted Selene to a window overlooking the garden. From my position, I could see the children playing outside. Lyra was crouched down examining flowers again, while Orion stood nearby, constantly scanning their surroundings like a tiny guardian.
When Selene returned, she sat down beside me, her hand finding mine. I watched my father observing her, and suspected he still harbored a preference for Lysandra. The thought irritated me, though I wasn’t sure why.
I felt a stab of guilt as I looked at Selene. She deserved better than to be caught in this mess.
