Chapter 103
I glanced at Kieran, silently pleading for help. He nodded, placing a hand on Alaric’s shoulder. “Ric, why are you intimidating her? You know she can have male friends.”
Alaric stood abruptly, turning to Kieran, his aura making items in the room vibrate slightly. ‘Really? Don’t make me say it. She can have male friends? Isn’t it you who threatens every male wolf that approaches her with your Beta voice, warning them to stay away?”
My eyes widened at Alaric’s accusation. I looked at Kieran, who scratched the back of his head, clearly caught in the act.
“That’s nonsense, Alaric. Cool down,” Kieran muttered to his Alpha, submission evident in his tone.
I felt confused and incredulous. Every time a male wolf had approached me, they’d mysteriously backed away, and Kieran had always claimed it was Alaric’s orders. So it had been Kieran working behind the scenes all along? Why would he do that?
Alaric turned to me, studying my confused expression as his Alpha presence receded slightly.
“It was Tristan who took her, wasn’t it?”
I froze, shocked. He already knew! Astrid trembled nervously within me.
“Ric, how did you know?”
“What do you take me for? I’m the Alpha of Moonshade Pack. I can sense when another Alpha has been active in my territory. Now tell me, why did he do it?”
I lowered my gaze, voice dropping. “He wanted to know the truth about the twins.”
“That bastard! What did you tell him?” Alaric’s eyes transformed completely to wolf–gold.
I remained silent. I couldn’t bring myself to tell my brother what I’d said to Tristan. The words I’d spoken were too
embarrassing to repeat to anyone.
“She told him their father is dead,” Kieran answered for me, his voice steady despite the tension.
“And? He didn’t question that? He didn’t want more details?” Alaric pressed.
“She said it was a one–night stand, that she knew little about the children’s father.” Kieran’s tone was strained.
Alaric fell quiet for a moment before sighing, his eyes returning to their normal green.
“You did something stupid, Lysandra.”
I looked up at Alaric. “Ric, I had no choice but to make up an excuse. I couldn’t let him know the truth.”
Alaric gave me a disappointed look. He’s not the same Tristan from five years ago. He’s Alpha Tristan, ruler of Silverblood Pack. I’ll say this – he’s smart enough to see through your lies. He’s not some ordinary wolf who would believe such a story.”
I frowned at him. “Ric, he believed me. He was angry, but eventually let me take Lyra.”

Chapter 103
Alaric turned to Kieran, his eyes flashing dangerously again. “Why didn’t you tell me? Why did you let her go to that wolf
alone?”
Kieran lowered his head in submission, his Beta instincts forcing compliance. I was shocked at Alaric’s anger. He’d never treated Kieran this way before. They’d always been best friends.
