“How can I help you?”
Silvia’s indifferent voice came through, and Neil instinctively tightened his grip on the phone.
After he kept quiet for a few seconds, she spoke in annoyance, “If you have nothing to say, I’ll hang up.”
“I’m downstairs at MY Corporation.”
As soon as he finished speaking, she ended the call.
Neil laughed bitterly. Just as he thought, she wanted to avoid him and have nothing to do with him anymore. However, this might be for the best. Otherwise, she could be in danger.
Although he should be happy, his mood hit rock bottom, and his expression darkened.
Over in her office, Silvia could not shake off an uneasy feeling after the call ended. She sensed that Neil was different from usual.
Had something happened?
The thought made her restless. After fidgeting in her seat for a few minutes, she finally decided to go downstairs and see what was going on.
Five minutes later, she approached Neil’s car and knocked on the window.
It moved down slowly and revealed his grim face.
“Why are you here?”
Silvia looked at him and replied impassively, “I should be asking you that. Why did you suddenly show up at my company? Don’t tell me you just happened to pass by.”
Although she seemed indifferent, there was a hint of concern in her eyes. Neil’s heart softened at the sight.
“Nothing. I’m just feeling a bit tired.”
She frowned and planned to walk away at first. Yet, for some reason, she opened the car door and got in.
“No. I just don’t want you to be filled with hatred or sadness.”
Right after that, he pulled her into his arms.
She froze briefly but eventually hugged him back.
“Don’t be sad. It’ll get better.”
After about ten seconds, Neil let her go and schooled his expression.
“I’m fine. Thanks for today. If I ever call you again, just block my number.”
His sudden change in attitude made Silvia frown. “What do you mean, Neil? Are you planning to toss me aside after using me?”
