“Melanie, we’ve been married for many years, and we’ve gone through so much. I won’t agree to a divorce!”
Melanie found Jake’s determined look ridiculous.
“I’ve made up my mind whether you agree or not. I won’t give you another chance to hurt me!”
“You’re upset right now, so I won’t argue with you. I’ll visit you tomorrow.”
“Just leave!”
Once he left, she could no longer control her emotions and broke down in tears.
Her son had died shortly after birth, and Jake had deceived her into raising Ariel’s child for over twenty years. All of this filled her heart with hatred.
Eventually, Melanie cried herself to exhaustion and fell asleep on the bed.
A nurse had overheard her dispute with Jake and quickly contacted Neil.
He soon rushed over and found Melanie asleep. He chose not to wake her up and sat on a nearby couch to read a document.
After she woke up, she saw Neil in her ward, and her expression changed. “What are you doing here?” she asked coldly.
“I heard about your disagreement with Dad. You’re not in good health, so you shouldn’t get upset. If you don’t want to see him, I’ll tell him not to visit you here.”
As Neil left the room, he gave Jake a call.
“Dad, why did you and Mom get into a disagreement? Even if she did something wrong, you shouldn’t argue with her. She’s hospitalized, so you should try to be more tolerant toward her.”
After a brief silence, he heard Jake’s serious voice. “Come to Harmony Yard right now. Your grandmother and I have something to tell you.”
Jake sighed. “I’m just afraid he won’t accept Neil as his son. After all, he has a wife and child now. Neil might spell trouble for him…”
