Ada froze when she noticed Melanie’s distant attitude.
“I thought I should come and see how you’re doing. How about I peel an apple for you?”
Melanie pursed her lips with displeasure.
Honestly, she did not really want to see Ada. Every time she saw Ada, she was reminded of the terrible time she was confined in Liam’s basement. Besides, Ada was carrying Liam’s child. Melanie had been trying her best to hold back from saying anything harsh to her.
“You don’t have to. The caregivers can do that. Just keep me company and chat with me.”
“Okay.”
Ada was pretending to peel an apple. When Melanie told her to stop, she immediately set the knife down.
Suddenly, she noticed her phone vibrating in her bag.
She picked it up, and her expression changed when saw a message from Liam.
“Ada, if you have something to attend to, you can leave. I’m about to rest anyway.”
“Alright. I’ll visit you some other time, Mrs. Remus.”
After that, she hurried off with her bag.
As soon as she left the hospital, Liam called.
She reluctantly picked up and angrily said, “Didn’t I tell you not to contact me?!”
He chuckled and replied, “I have a plan that can get rid of Silvia and make Neil fall for you. Want to hear it?”
Ada was skeptical. “Why would you do this for me?”
Besides, why did Neil and Jake look so similar?
Even though he had lingering suspicions, the doctor did not press further. He nodded and left.
Melanie called Jake with trembling hands and said, “Where are you? Come to the hospital right away!”
She hung up without waiting for his reply.
As she looked at the test results again, she clenched her fists until the report crumpled.
